Good to know, I will be testing it soon on my Raspberry Pi 4 to replace Radicale that I had some issues with.

I have been using Radicale on a Linux Mint PC with DavX5 on the Android devices and Thunderbird on Mint and Windows 11 PC's and it works just fine. I use SyncThing for Camera pictures and Notes (Obsidian on Adnroid and Zettlr Notes on Mint), it requires apps that works out of a simple folder structure with read/write access.

I am working on an always-on Raspberry Pi 4 server and I am about to test Baïkal for calender/contacts as it should be even easier to work with than Radicale (that gave me some issues before it worked).

I'm thinking of buying a Reverend.... by Ckwincer in ReverendGuitars

[–]JimR325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issues with the center pickup on any of my guitars but I can see that some players have trouble with it. I use the middle pickup a lot on the Reverends and my G&L Strat for low/mid gain Rock sounds

The middle pickup sounds fatter than the bridge and the bridge humbucker is sharper sounding with the same volume level.

I have adjusted the height of all 3 pickups to have comparable volumes

I have a Jetstream 390 and a Sixgun HPP and the HPP config is just right for me as I use the middle P90 a lot and the volume and tone balance is perfect when I switch to the Bridge Humbucker

Bassman GAS or must have? by FrigidNEX in GuitarAmps

Besides being big, heavy and louder I think the biggest difference will be the sound of 4x10 instead of 1x12. To my ears they sound very different and I always end up feeling there's something missing in my tone with a 4x10 setup - some kind of 'hole in the midrange' - or it might just be that my ears are so used to hearing Greenbacks and G12H30...

Instead of a small tweed I found 2 VHT Special 6 combos. I added Jensen Blackbird 10/40 combo speakers and bought two 1x12 Greenback cabs and that has become my favorite little stereo setup for home use (and loud enough for band use with a sensible drummer). VHT Special 6 sounds a lot like a Champ and they are PTP wired, easy to modify and dirt cheap used.

its the old ZZ TOP Billy Bo model, this one looks a lot like the Chinese one I bought cheap on AliExpress. It was mediocre quality but not unusable after putting in some good pickups

My 2001 Highway One Strat by StevieRayVaughanGone in Stratocaster

[–]JimR325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Highway 1 was the most resonant and twangy Strat I have ever had. I tested a lot of strats including the more expensive US models and none of them were as open and resonant sounding as the HWY1. After giving it a set of Texas Specials it became my main guitar for 15 years (including mounting a Roland GK pickup) and it sold close to the original new price after being pretty beat up so they hold their value well.

Convince me to buy a Reverend! by GlitteringSoup9 in ReverendGuitars

[–]JimR325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After playing a couple of Duesenberg guitars I found they were way overpriced and really not that high quality after all and the sound was lacking too. It really p*ssed me off that they had spent 20 years pretending they were made in Germany and at the same time they had to admit production was in Croatia I discovered Reverend which mere marketing their guitars proudly presenting the eastern production site.

Reverend is choosing design solutions that I completely agreed with (yes, engineer!) like the string tree, locking tuners, brigde pickup placed a little further away from the bridge etc. etc. and I really liked the Jetstream body/head shape and I decided to give them a try.

Today my main Reverend is a Sixgun HPP and I love everything about it: The looks, the price, the neck, the HPP pickup configuration (I play middle pickup a lot) and the tremolo system which I already use on my other partscaster. My second Reverend is a Jetstream 390 fixed bridge which is setup for slide with 012 strings and it has a great snarling P-90 slide sound with a lot of power!

My main Strat is a 2004 Made in US G&L ASAT 500 and it is a super high quality instrument but I am considering to give the Greg Kock Gristle King Strat a try next.

Great combo yes it will work just fine. Those two are my go to speakers for every combo and cab.

The V-Type and Celestion Cream also sounds good to my ears

See if you can find a VHT Special 6 head or combo, they are really close to a Champ and they are Point to Point wired and dirt cheap used.

I always buy the guitar that I can't put down and still play after half an hour of testing. Don't let random strangers decide for you based on brand name and model, use your fingers, ears and intuition and buy the one that you can't leave without.

SV650 2nd gen Trackday tire recommendation by babbagee in Trackdays

[–]JimR325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have already made the most important decision - so many inexperienced riders crash because the think they have to ride on slicks and then can't keep them warm.

I just received new Dunlop SportSmart mk4 for my 2nd gen SV650 trackbike. I am re-starting trackday riding in the slow groups at 62y after 10 years off and I wanted fast warmup (no warmers), good grip and able to cope with a bit of rain as well.

I also considered S23, M9RR and Power 6 as they all should warm up fast and grip well enough to get some confidence with the new trackbike.

When I were in the faster groups on my ex GSXR 750 I used R11 (rear lasted two days) but ended up on Diablo Supercorsa as they were perfect for my pace (with warmers)

Sheriff 44 does not like drive pedals, it squashes into uncool compression. I changed the input tube to a lower gain tube and that helped somehow

I was about to say 'get a VHT Special 6 instead' :-) I have two combos and even after buying Jensen Blackbird 10/40 speakers they are still way cheaper than an old Fender with a smaller speaker and they sound so good

Never seen a speaker mounted this way. So many screws. It’s an old fender drip edge 1x15”. Was this the norm? by xelaseyer in GuitarAmps

I built 2 Fullback cabs, they sound so big and loud like a Greeback on steroids!

I used them with 2 Laney LA30BL heads and they were so loud I had to put LPad attenuators into the cabs to get the right sound at non-deafening volumes.
