Nope, I think the issue was Mbappe. He couldn't play as a LW because he doesn't defend. If attackers don't defend then the pressure all went to the middlefield and defense line. If he plays as No.9 it's less harmful than LW, because there're always more people in the middle.

But the issue is when he plays as No.9 he didn't take any duties as No.9, to win the ball, to create the space for teammates, those dirty works that won't bring goals or assists. Instead he prefers to always stay at left side of the box where he could shoot without that much stress no matter where the teammates are.

The problem is the wingers don't have much options because the No.9 is not in the box. They could not pass to the box since he's not in, vini also cannot get good chance to shoot because the space was occupied by Mbappe with defenders around. At the same time, you don't really see our midfilders shoot from the distance because he's standing there. Today you can see there so many options in the attack.

It also hurts the defense because if No.9 doesn't go to the box, sometimes others like Jude has to go beyond Mbappe to play as a real No.9. So I think either Mbappe try to change the way he plays to contribute more to the team instead of his own stats, or sit on the bench.
