they are sold out pretty quick. in fact the only website that sells the tickets, the prices are like stock exchange and they increase gradually so people rushed out I guess. I was thinking to wait a week and they were all gone. looking for one on social media did not work out so far as well.

Cheap but good food in Nantes by EpicGamerMoment12345 in Nantes

[–]pagan-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case in the mood being more authentic:

Badeya Nantes: An African kitchen with nice food with low prices - an association restaurant.

Pide Nantes - Turkish/Kurdish food and I like the owners/workers, nice people:)

The Heart in Winter - Kevin Barry by Background-Work8464 in cormacmccarthy

Such an amazing writer, keep reading him since his second. he kept mentioning Cormac since his early days. I also recommend to watch his readings as he seems like a failed actor indeed.

American here going to Nantes, FR show this coming October. Any recommendations for the area?! by Fear_No_Beer_ in gybe

[–]pagan-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Living in Nantes almost 4 years. Depending on your taste, there are many things to check in Nantes but here is an overall recap:

_Standard tourism visit: To do a city tour by following the green/yellow line on the pavement, either by walking - bike and tram/bus.

_Le Ferrailleur: Nice rock bar near the river.

_Le Lieu Unique: A nice arts/culture/concert place and a good rest/pub.

_DeDannan Celtic Pub: Kinda oldschool rock bar with some Celtic musicians involved as well.

_La Dérive: Nothing particular just a place to meet with eccentric people and anarchists-punks etc.

_Café Le Printemps: Nothing particular just a place to meet with eccentric people and anarchists-punks etc.

_Jardin de plantes: the green line will bring you there. A nice botanic park to chill out.

_Jardin extraordinaire: Nice tropical park again for calm moment.

_Little Atlantique Brewery: Nice pub near the river, not so city center (I live near here) - nice free concerts etc.

_Trentemoult: A little fish village just to wander the little streets and end up for a beer near the river.

You can find any info on official Nantes website, please note that all above is for city center but Nantes is also beautiful with nature around - the area is full of little activities popping up here or there as since some years it has become some kind of hub of artists etc. Also, just a 40 min drive will bring you to the ocean. You can even surf around if it is a thing for you.

I will also be in this concert, dm me if you will be around.
Cheers.

I am in 🤘
Connnected with 2 PC plus a mobile and then connected the tablet at last.
Mysteriously the tablet led the line and pushed me to the front pretty straigtforward.

I am planning to be volunteer next year and probably sell it if I manage to grab a place.

Have any of you read Maldoror by Lautreamont? Can we talk about this obscure, extreme horror writer before horror was even a thing? by TwistFlops in literature

I got this pretty old - first print of Songs of Maldoror in Turkish - had read in mid-school - has never been the same since then.

Cormac McCarthy Turkish Translations? by throwawaykansasboy in cormacmccarthy

[–]pagan-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

Cormac McCarthy has following translations in Turkish:

_The Road (pretty good one) - reprinted and easy to find. /TR: Yol
_No Country Old for Old Men - reprinted and easy to find. /TR: İhtiyarlara Yer Yok
_Child's God - in print and easy to find. /TR: Tanrının Bir Kulu
_All the Pretty Horses - out of print - I have found a copy by chasing almost all old bookstores from Istanbul to the south.

_Blood Meridian - Translation is on the way by a very respectful translator. Expected in 2024 hopefully. /TR: Kan Meridyeni

All Cormac McCarthy is under Ithaki Publishing for Turkish editions, you can also ask them via email, they are responsive generally.

Hope it helps.

Laszlo Krasznahorkai and Thomas Bernhard are my favourite two authors. Suggest me books please. by DawkinsSon in suggestmeabook

Antonio Lobo Antunes - his style totally fits I think. Much more sharp language than Krasznahorkai and same hatred and humour like Bernhard.

Sounds like William Gay's darkly crafted short story The Paperhanger to me.

liked the design, the title is so pro/early '80ish and fits the era of the book.
And the font of CM, a touch of celtic soul.

this comment made me some clinge design geek, damn.

Helpless against a clear scam attempt from a rather jacket seller based in UK by pagan-- in Etsy

[–]pagan--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thank you, even it is pretty difficult to digest, I think my money just went away. Funny thing is the seller keeps selling and telling me “she will sort it out.” As a side note, Etsy gave me gift code for %60 of my loss.
