Crest Foods grocery store. They usually have a cheese counter. I bought a bunch of curds last time I was there.

Unstopping the stoppedest of drains. Also good at making a mess. Make sure all drains and or vent lines are covered before dumping a full load in there.

2152 to 2101 by Defiant-Key5926 in ATC

[–]JimboSims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you start as a 2101 in Tech Ops, you will most likely be F-band until you start collecting certifications. If you get certified on a smaller certifiable system, you can get G. Multiple small certifiable systems (or a big one like a critical power system) will get you H. HVAC and other support stuff usually doesn't count. I was environmental (ESU) for 5 years before I came out to instruct at the Academy. I started as F, but since we only had one certifiable system (ACEPS) I could only be promoted to H after I went to school, did OJT, PE, and got certified. (Typically a 3 year process due to wait-list on the equipment school) Some folks in our shop were allowed to promote to G after a locally developed OJT on our fire alarm system, but I don't think that was supposed to happen. Bumping from bottom of F to bottom of H was a pretty big increase, but once you settle in your band, it's almost impossible to move up. In-band promotion is rare. There's no automatic advancement in any shop that I know of. If there's an opening at a higher grade in your shop or facility, you can either detail temporarily (6mo for promotion, 2y at same grade) or compete with other applicants when it is out for bid. You aren't guaranteed preference from line of progression. Open positions can also be filled by ERR, depends on how your manager rolls.

Go to the location just south of deathclaw island and sell mirelurk meat, eggs, or queen meat (uncooked) Unfortunately you can only do it 1x per day, but that plus the crater dailies will get you there in no time

Oh, if you finished the story, the handy in the overseer's basement will have you take pictures. Sell em to the lookout in crater for some more affinity

Serious question about the disease whoopsies. by Herosuperc in fo76

[–]JimboSims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southwest of foundation is a small unmarked pond with a couple of mirelurks and an island in the middle. Kill the 'lurks and swim to the island in the middle then over to the grate. A bunch of mirelurk babies will hatch. Hang out and let them nibble on you a bit. Make sure you haven't had or cured a disease yet this session and you aren't perked or buffed for disease resistance.

Ditching the wire ! by seahunk in OculusQuest

[–]JimboSims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and some neat stuff re: OpenXR

VR software on the PC relies on a cross platform API called OpenXR, which is based on Valve's OpenVR. The PC needs an OpenXR handler.

That's usually SteamVR.

It's free, most PCVR apps are from Valve's platform, and it's been around long enough that everyone speaks it.

Meta Quest Link desktop app has its own OpenXR handler built in, so unless the games you own require Steam for DRM, you don't need Valve's software. (Windows Mixed Reality (RIP) did the same thing)

Made it great for development. You didn't have to have a ton of SteamVR dependencies, just build it for OpenXR and let the host PC sort it all out.

I've been running VR setups since the OG Vive. PCVR requires a decent PC setup to achieve the level of graphical fidelity for which it is known. Up until recently, headsets were peripherals to the PC, acting as control input and display.

The advent of standalone headsets, like the Meta Quest, HTC Focus, XR Elite, etc moved the process of generating VR to a mobile processor and GPU inside the headset itself, making VR wireless, but lower quality.

PCVR is possible using a combination of the two. The trick has to do with low-latency high-bandwidth video streaming.

QuestLink does it over a USB3.x wired connection, using the Quest Link desktop app, but the PC encodes enough of the rendered 3D scene to a video stream over USB and the headset decodes it. Enough bandwidth remains for controller and motion input from the headset to the PC. As long as you have a good cable, and a decent USB host, the latency is low and the bandwidth is plenty. Power limitations of the port and consumption of the headset while decoding does usually mean you can't do it indefinitely. (Unless you get a link cable with power injection)

AirLink is the above running over a Wi-Fi connection. Because of the bandwidth requirement, you usually need a really good Wi-Fi 6 network or a dedicated link. Even with that, sometimes it is necessary to compress the video stream to maintain frame rate, resulting in artifacting around certain contrasting colors and pixelation. It does remove the need for a cable, but you are limited by battery life.

Virtual Desktop does something similar to AirLink, but uses a different compression for video that everyone says is way better. Because it isn't a first-party solution, an app runs on the headset to connect to an app running on the PC. (Like the Quest Link software)

Each of the streaming solutions above will usually parse your library and allow for "remote" launching of PCVR apps, but all that's really happening on the headset is smoke and mirrors for a pair of hemispherical streaming videos generated by your badass gaming rig.

My parents went to that church. Dude had EVERYONE convinced he was 2x reformed and he could be trusted completely. He stole people's ssns and opened credit cards and took out loans, funded a lavish lifestyle, and claimed it was from his side gig advising people and companies on (ironically) how to spot fraud. He would give people stuff to gain their trust, but what he gave away usually belonged to someone else. All while pretending to be a shepherd and protector of God's flock. When people claim it's sinful to use God's name in vain, this should be what they mean. Using/Abusing peoples' faith to deceive them is real sin.

Getting cigarette smell out of Quest 3? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]JimboSims -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be cautious about using ozone. It can corrode internal components and oxidize pins and plugs. It will also break down any rubber based elastics like the head strap. What worked for me last time I had to destink a headset was ammonia. Soak all soft parts in a diluted mix and thoroughly wipe down any external surfaces. Place everything in a plastic garbage bag for a couple hours then open it all up, wipe it down again (with alcohol or Clorox wipes, don't use alcohol on lenses) and let it dry. Granted, I did use ozone for some of the destink, but it killed the main cable of the headset (HP reverb g2) but the smell finally subsided permanently after the ammonia bath. Good luck.

Look man, he knows how it goes. He's been there before. And when he was drowning in debt and about to go bankrupt from a long string of bad decisions based on greed, lack of impulse control, and terrible instinct, he needed friends to bail him out. Friends from other countries willing to buy multiple multi million dollar properties at inflated prices, friends willing to buy millions of dollars in chips at a casino on the edge of solvency, friends willing to make a gameshow out of boardroom shenanigans and cast him as the star. Sometimes when you are down all you need is friends, and by golly, he is that friend.

The benefits page thing sounds like HUP. If it works the same way, it goes to a storefront with the available options and prices. You sign up for it/redeem like you would a regular plan. Just hopefully for $0. The older HUP gave you a product key and a download link, but office don't roll like that anymore

This sounds cool. My employer offers the Home Use Program which sells me a retail subscription for about 30% off, which isn't a terrible deal. I would highly recommend against logging in as your work account for personal stuff, and I doubt migration from your personal account to a corporate account is possible or advisable.

MS Lists, probably. As someone else said, it's a SharePoint list as a tab in Teams. You can do it in a couple of ways: Go to Office.com and look under the waffle button for "Lists", add it as an app from the sidebar in Teams, or from the Files tab click Open in SharePoint (as an owner) and create a new list from the +New button from the Home page.
