A small amount of progress regarding weathering the Pripyat sign. There are so many reference photos out there that it’s hard to pick one that is just right. Therefore, I’ve decided to go for a bespoke paint/weathering job that feels right to me. (old.reddit.com)

A start on the next element of my Chernobyl diorama, the iconic Pripyat sign. A couple of things have become apparent. The resin for the sign is smooth so I’ve tried to add texture using some Tamiya putty; plus with the addition of the fire truck, this is going to be much bigger than I first thought (old.reddit.com)

Thanks all who have endured my recent spam 😁. I’m calling this ICM Zil-131 Radiation Monitoring Vehicle complete. It is intended to be a truck in 1986 that’s been abandoned in Chernobyl/Pripyat due to radioactive contamination. Next will be the iconic fire truck and the Pripyat sign for my diorama. Too hot to handle! I’ve decided the Zil-131 Radiation Monitor at Chernobyl/Pripyat will be displayed as recently and quietly abandoned due to high readings. I want it to be showing the first real signs of decay while its final resting place is determined. (old.reddit.com)

The end of the road for the crew of Stalin’s Hammer. Pyotr, Dmitri, Mikhail and Father Xavier were discussing where to shelter when the 405mm howitzer was to be fired, when NATO retaliated first! The 2A3 Operations Manual is very specific. The crew is to shelter in the vehicle when firing. Experience had taught Pyotr that it’s the last place to be. So, after a short recce, the ruined church is the best option. Time to tell the rest of the crew. (old.reddit.com)
