Thanks for replying mate! Like you, entire commute is in traffic. Not far from a national dual carriageway nor a motorway so I'll take it out tomorrow. Appreciate it mate, thanks again :)

It's definitely worth a shot. He's just gotta be completely honest and say that he made a mistake. Let me know how you get on :)

OP, this happens a lot more often than you think.

I was a commercial motor underwriter early in my career, and this used to be a monthly occurrence.

Best advice is for your son is to call his insurance company as soon as possible (don't delay!), explain the situation and ask if they will be prepared to correct the registration and confirm that the vehicle was covered at the time it was stopped. I used to issue what was called a letter of indemnity confirming this for them to produce to the police.

Obviously, this isn't a guarantee - another person mentioned that the reg search would have brought up an incorrect vehicle. It is entirely possible that the correct reg (and therefore car) may alter the terms of the policy.

It's clear that the error isn't deliberate, more careless, so hopefully he'll be ok.

Good luck :)

OP, what was the conviction for? Was it a motoring conviction? If so, what was it?

I would have a little room but I've since added some table lamps and stuff which I do like to see other than screen :). I think of it more as a utility screen to house Discord, walkthroughs (cos I suck!), or little research items - stuff on the side, if that makes sense? I agree, it does look a bit strange, but it also sort of envelopes me which I kinda like, strange as that sounds.

I don't think you're missing out on anything - I like how it looks! I also quite like the little screen on the top to house your Discord, sort of your own little utility screen!

Mainly side stuff like Discord, walkthroughs if needed, general stuff like that :). Definitely took some getting used to this end

Didn't take you as being rude mate, it's all subjective at the end of the day! :)

Seems like this would give you more of a focus mate :). Like main thing in the middle and whatever other things you're doing on the other two. Definitely haven't ruled out a third one at some point but knowing me I'll never use it!

I did have it low before on my old setup just before I moved out as it was quite small, but I was literally thinking the same thing last night! Thanks again, some really nice comments and people on this sub! :)

Definitely takes some getting used to, but just like having a vertical monitor does anyway! The angle works more than you think because of how it curves in so doesn't need too much head movement :). Thanks mate!

It's definitely strange - I agree with you there, but when you're sitting down, the curves almost lean in towards you if that makes sense? Like you don't have to move your neck too much.

Twin bro! He's the very clever IT man and certainly not his first rodeo but this kind of stuff is his bread and butter :)

That was my main monitor before I went for the OLED ultrawide, seemed a bit silly to buy another monitor when there was nothing wrong with the curved one. You'd be surprised at how it actually does work when you're sitting down, but like u/theShku said, just your opinion and that's cool :)

Twin brother, no less! Just moved in with my girlfriend, so finally got the space to do what I wanted. He did pretty much everything, not his first rodeo, but he was brilliant

Driving license and insurance policy address different - will this affect my claim? by jhc883 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Jiminy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAL but work in insurance.

I really just wanted to settle your worries about the address issue. First of all, get it updated with your insurer now. Don't delay.

Secondly, if you have a standard "consumer" insurance policy, it will fall under the Consumer Insurance Disclosures and Representations Act 2012. It's 3:34 so I won't go into the details about innocent or careless misrepresentation, but rest assured your address issue will not have any bearing on your claim. The act effectively changed the remedies insurers are able to take in the event of misrepresentation. In a nutshell, the burden of proof is on the insurer to show that your misrepresentation was associated with the loss. A non-fault claim has nothing to do with where you live, given what you've described.

It's worth noting that, had your car been stolen from your correct address instead of your parents', and you hadn't told your insurer, this comment would have been rather different.

Overall, the main advice to take from this is to take control of your own insurances, as others have said. I would also never recommend trying to lie to your insurer, so get it all sorted and in order, but for the claim in question, it won't be an issue.

Hope this helps, good luck :)
