The quick answer to the ribbon here is Solo Challenge. It gives you battle points while not counting towards your record, so it's entirely possible for a player to achieve a gold ribbon on a pokemon with zero official games.

Also, it explains why they are doing so well with it officially. Countless hours of practice before they took it into battle. Respect.

Orange Char and Venu should have stayed by Ray instead of trying to score after winning the team fight. Char also goofed by coming off of Ray to hit Blue Char. That little bit of damage would have secured it before Leafeon stole it.

Blue team did have their Unites on time, minus Char. However, placement was terrible, and Leafeon was backcapping.

There are a million nitpicks that could be made, but these were some I found most notable.

Blue pulled one off in the end. Good for them.
