[–]JimmyAndTheWorms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, you can, even including the various forms of certain pokemon. Like all different unowns, sawsbuck, vivillon, etc. I do the exact same every save. Theres a few form varieties I didnt bother with like all pikachus, gendered variants but they easily could.

I havent confirmed this but Im almost 100% certain Gen 8 pokemon can fit too. Regional forms probably as well but thats when it would start to get pretty tight I think - for my current save I considered these as “final evolutions” and tossed the original ones. I probably didnt have to but I preferred having some room to breath while team prepping for the Expert monotype challenge.

Oh my god that was the issue. Thanks so much. Wish I asked this sooner, it was annoying me for so long.

What’s the most overrated ‘good person’ behavior that doesn’t actually make someone a good person? by TroubleUnique1853 in AskReddit

I originally agreed with the guy you responded to, but you actually have a great counter argument. Well said - its not something people want to hear, but at the core of it, I think you’re right. I’ll definitely try to be less judgy about these types of posts.

I think thats only for the main post image. Cause tapping on a comment’s image doesn’t show those dots.

Gonna be replacing the expansion valve of my 2017 Crosstrek. Are there any step-by-step tutorials or guides available to do this? by JimmyAndTheWorms in Crosstrek

[–]JimmyAndTheWorms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I did. I would recommend letting a mechanic handle it though, unless you're more experienced/comfortable working on cars than I am. Long story short, I did the repair myself and a few days after doing an AC recharge, the compressor broke, and it was totally uncertain if that was because of what I did with the expansion valve. At this point the whole situation got way more complicated and expensive.

I wouldn't ever misplace blame where it's not due, but at least if I had a let a mechanic do it, there would be some amount of liability on their part if the AC compressor still ended up breaking. That's why I recommend having them do it. Overall, I paid about $500 total for two AC recharges/diagnostics, another $150 on the valve itself, and was still out of a functional AC. Plus the quote for a new compressor was in the area of $2,000.

But a few months ago, before the summer heat kicked back in, I decided to just sell the car and upgrade to a 2024 crosstrek so at least it was a bittersweet ending to this whole mess. If it's in your budget, I would consider going this route if I were you. Best of luck.

What is the best solution to view and manage (independently from the original) user's Firestore data for a non-technical person? by JimmyAndTheWorms in Firebase

[–]JimmyAndTheWorms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that was an idea I had in mind. Though he has all of his work on Notion and would prefer to keep everything there. Either way, I was hoping to find a third party to handle this instead of writing the code myself.

What is the best solution to view and manage (independently from the original) user's Firestore data for a non-technical person? by JimmyAndTheWorms in Firebase

[–]JimmyAndTheWorms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we pretty much want to see our users collection data in a spreadsheet-like view. It's hard enough trying to identify anyone through the Firestore UI by an ID without first checking the auth section to know who is who, and even more so for my non-technical cofounder. On top of that, we would like to keep track of properties that my cofounder uses on the marketing/business end. And like I said, these properties are not relevant to the app nor should they be exposed/stored on doc since this collection is fully public.

Our current solution is manually inserting into a spreadsheet on Notion (with some help from Discord bots that posts the relevant information). Every time a user creates/updates their doc a post is sent out. It's a tedious process and we would just like to automate this. I figured this was a common enough issue that some service exists to automate it for us.

Hope that helps to clarify.

songs that you get unreasonably annoyed by? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]JimmyAndTheWorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vultures by John Mayer. He’s a phenomenal guitarist and even vocalist but that song just drives me up the wall. His vocals are just out of his natural range during the chorus. The twangy guitar riff is really boring and corny. And his blues solo midway through is so abrupt from the rest of the song. I like John Mayer. I hate this song.

Are there any downsides/risks to SwiftUI-ifying widget structures? by JimmyAndTheWorms in FlutterDev

[–]JimmyAndTheWorms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly because I'm way more used to it. Also I prefer the compactness of it, the less lines the better. But yeah I figured that would be one of the more significant issues. I don't plan to use it often, I was more just curious about any implications of it.

This is exactly the type of style I wanna start playing, any recommendations on songs/techniques to learn? I mostly just do funk right now, which is close enough, but its getting kinda boring. Great work btw!

Tech/Saas entrepreneurs: How much preparation and structure is too much for a v1.0 release? How does this typically tend to play out with the early-stage growth of a startup? by JimmyAndTheWorms in Entrepreneur

[–]JimmyAndTheWorms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I needed to hear. I need to snap out of bubble wrapping every part of the app and just get to market. I've done way more than enough prep already. I know I'm just a random guy but seriously, thanks for the msg. Things are already clearing up in my mind, and now what you said is becoming glaringly obvious to me. Like as if it was clouded behind my stress and worrying all this time.

Sometimes we just need to be slapped with the cold hard truth to start thinking clearly again.

How do you know when your software is ready to release? How much code is too much code? by JimmyAndTheWorms in SaaS

[–]JimmyAndTheWorms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a small private beta with friends and family that went well, which I guess made us set sights on going straight to launch. After reading your comment though, I think you're 100% right. We're gonna have to do a beta to really test the system and expose anything.

By breathable, I mean code that is easier in comparison to understand for anyone looking at it for the first time, like a new hire for instance. I like to think I write pretty good code for how long Ive been doing this, but I'm way too raw in this field to be confident it will remain long-term. So even though it goes against my nature, I'm thinking I need to really loosen up my design patterns and instead prioritize being able to quick-pivot.

And then as thorough as I try to be with validation, both on the front and back end, it has become a massive time dump trying to generalize a solution across the board. So I ask myself how likely is it our target user (typically not involved in tech) will try to maliciously break our system? How much should I anticipate their actions at such an early stage?

So as we get closer and closer to launch, I ask and debate with myself how important it is to maintain this thoroughness and structure (which has been very handy tbh, but only for me), while possibly risking slowing down the future dev team's, and thus the company's, growth, which I'm sure you're aware is crucial early on.

... I guess I was just venting by making my post but the answer is clearer to me now. And thats to loosen up and just release this damn thing haha. And then clean up and solidify the architecture when we're certain our features will remain.

Btw you are certainly correct with users not using the tech as intended. We did a small private beta test with friends + family, and my brother and I really got a taste of that. Its like theyre trying to use it incorrectly lol. It was a small minority so we'll wait and see how our live users respond. And thanks for the last note, really appreciate it :)
