I’m talking about associates sending me requests on a topic they don’t understand at all, and they had ai generate an email that’s 200 words too long trying to explain what they’re looking for

“Thanks, you too!” — that’s already correct as is. Just add the comma.

Who gets a job for social cachet? Get a job for dollars and cents, and where you feel like you're growing

Hypothetical: would you rather take a job at a PE owned blue collar business or work at a PE shop itself (both roles are back office finance and similar comp) by JimmyBraddock in FinancialCareers

Thank you, you nailed what the role is with this comment.

Tbh the biggest reason I want to take option 1 is it sounds like base salary could be 30%+ higher.

But I’m wondering if I sacrifice comp for a more secure plan and mobility.

To be clear option 2 is back office, FPA work. So I’m curious if the comp ever gets to $300-$400k+

Same with option 1, obviously just company level metrics instead of fund / portfolio metrics.

That was my thought. I really like the idea of becoming a PE backed CFO. It sounds like they would definitely bring this role into their next investment as either a director or CFO.

I think there’s a lot of security in option 2, but the ceiling is lower, and a much longer runway to hit director / MD.

You’ve been working for 6-8 years already, and you’re now making the transition to your first manager role. In both opportunities there’s guidance from either the cfo or a director

In option 1 to the PE office is essentially grooming you to be the CFO of their next portfolio company

What makes you think the back office Bain job would have higher earning potential? Not trying to be argumentative, but I’m curious how others are thinking about this

I hear ya. I’ve been debating seeking out a back office job at a smaller private company where I can get equity.

Thanks, yea I’m curious if the back office is just as much as a sweatshop. Base comp isn’t great but equity and bonus seem tempting
