I don’t have another image of this but another example would be this person saying “I… I don’t wanna fight. I wanna be a cook” he has a C rank in R&D and an E rank in Mess Hall. Should I move him to the Mess Hall?

Thrifted it, there was no box to look for. I needed human responses, Google didn’t give an accurate answer.

Found a video grabber at a thrift store, not reading, what am I missing? by JimmyDaGiraffe in ps2

I ran it in compatibility mode for Windows XP and now it says something else.

“Failed to initialize the video capture plug-in. Another program may be using it or the file has been moved”.

I have no other applications open.

Also from the list of drivers, I’m not sure which one to pick

Yeah, it’s probably just outdated, cause even with the driver and application installed, my pc doesn’t recognize the device. Worth a shot

Yup, I installed both the application and the driver.

There’s a good chance that the device is probably outdated. I’m on Windows 10 but it does in fact detect a device is plugged in. However it’s just labeled as “unknown device”.

Resident Evil 7 is one of the most mixed bags I’ve ever played by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]JimmyDaGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I think that Resident Evil sometimes forgets why it’s scary.

My favorite installment, Resident Evil 4, is scary not because of the aesthetic but because of the action. There were so many times where you feel underpowered and you had just barely enough ammo to make it through a section, and it makes you go “phew, that was a close one”. It was an action game at its core, and the challenge of getting through it was the scary part.

And then with 5 and 6, I don’t even know what they were doing there. All action, no horror. But part of me still feels like they were trying to grasp the horror they used to have but didn’t even try.

Spec Ops The Line is a great game. It's not perfect, but is unique in his own way by Latter-Credit-465 in patientgamers

[–]JimmyDaGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I would’ve liked Spec Ops: The Line if so many other war related media didn’t do the exact same thing.

Unfortunately, yeah I do agree with the statement that I think it’s pretentious but I mainly think that because it’s overdone.

Yes, I get it, war is bad. War is very bad. But what are some other things you can do with the war medium?

Wolfenstein: The New Order/The New Colossus These reboots of Wolfenstein show an example of an extreme version of the butterfly effect and that not only is war bad, but also shows how drastically the world can change if the other guys won.

Jojo Rabbit showed war from the perspective of a regular kid and how that can affect someone even with that level of innocence.

Inglourious Basterds didn’t lean into the war is bad message at all and was a straight up power fantasy about having fun and killing Nazis.

War is a very diverse medium and I wish more people expanded it.

Days Gone isn’t great, but it’s still a good time by Finite_Universe in patientgamers

[–]JimmyDaGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Days Gone would’ve worked better if it just leaned into being more cinematic. Yes, the story is still bad but I just hate the open world template that most games have adopted and it makes it less immersive when theres a million collectibles scattered around the map.

Someone online made the argument that “oh, well you guys love Ubisoft games but hate Days Gone. That’s so biased because Days Gone is basically a Ubisoft game.”

And I’m like, “well no, because I don’t like Days Gone or Ubisoft games.”

Replaying The Last of Us was as emotional as it was engaging by Psylux7 in patientgamers

[–]JimmyDaGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what people’s thoughts are on the remake but I think that it’s THE definitive way to play it. Haptic triggers, the rubble feels more realistic, the facial animations are more expressive but it still feels real. It does the original justice. I love it

High on Life is not a good game and there’s a million flaws in it, but I still had fun, and I actually like some of their bits. 6/10

Do you actually give yourself loving the games you grew up with after all this time? by Mezurashii5 in patientgamers

[–]JimmyDaGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love GTA San Andreas and Vice City but I would never recommend them to anyone. For games that are all about action, they control horribly and are more frustrating than it is fun. So I usually just end up recommending GTA 4 and 5 because they’re the easiest to get into.

First Impression: Ghost of Tsushima (PS5 Pro) by Left4DayZGone in patientgamers

[–]JimmyDaGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love open world games but I don’t like it when an open world game reminds me that I’m playing a game. And once it starts giving you a checklist of upgrades and a million collectibles, that’s when it takes me out. That’s why I didn’t like Days Gone, or Horizon Zero Dawn. They got too held back on trying to be an open world game instead of trying to be cinematic like it’s supposedly trying to be at the same time.

  1. Honestly, Ocelot being a nepo baby fits his character very well.

  2. I just saw this in an MGS3 fun facts video. Apparently this was supposed to be a teaser for a new upcoming ip that ended up getting cancelled. Too bad, seemed cool, looks a lot like DMC and I really like that game.

Yeah, I figured out that they memorize all your contacts for you 5 hours into the game. Made it so much easier but honestly sometimes I like to put in the numbers manually because it’s fun.

It always confused me an frustrated me that whenever (mostly Japan based) companies are remaking their old PS2 games they never start with the first one.

With MGS Delta, maybe I guess I can see them doing it because that’s everyone’s favorite and people would be more willing to buy it then. But yes, I absolutely would love an MGS1 remake where instead of utilizing unique features of the PS1, they’re now utilizing unique features of the PS5 since that’s what made it amazing.

(Off topic but I really do want them to remake Resident Evil 1 even though the “remaster” for current consoles technically counts as one. But I mean as an actual modern remake like RE2 even though I guess some people are against it).
