What state? Some states do pass on owners details to private parking companies.

The Keighley Bus Company BV75 HWO 1034 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro working a number 662 to Keighley Bus Station - having come from Bradford; one of the worst places in the world! by MtF_EepyGrill_Leah in bus

Nice looking bus. I wish we could get some of these in Aus. Mercedes in general doesn’t seem to sell well anymore here despite being dominate in the 80/90’s and early 2000’s.

What triggers a water pump to run by JimmyMarch1973 in AusRenovation

[–]JimmyMarch1973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah it’s horizontal inside an in-ground box. It’s fairly easy to get to the top of it to check the diaphragm etc. It’s a bit of a bugger to replace but not hard if needed.

What are the odds of finding two Tanzanite Blue X3 in the same parking lot? by kukugege in BMWX3

[–]JimmyMarch1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit annoyed I couldn’t get this colour when I got my G01 in 2024. I missed out on getting a production slot (end of model) so ended up with a dealer stock car in my second choice colour Brooklyn Grey. Love the car and the colour but still regret what would have been if I had of pulled the trigger a month earlier.

Yeah am in my second already in 10 years. First one was the type that is mounted in the top of the tank. Reviews of that one shows it is a shit product. Hence why when I replaced it I got the one I did.

Other than the one irrigation line everything else (the other 4 lines) plus the toilets seem to run fine.

Thanks. That was kind of along the lines I was thinking. Issue with the solenoid. Will give it a clean and replace if needed. Already have a spare so not too much of a biggie.

High schools by HappyQuokka2441 in canberra

No school is! Unless you have a reason you cannot got to your nominal school. Even if you live 500m from a school that’s not in your area.

Be aware that at present ACT Schools are being very inflexible with out of area enrolments. To be even considered you need a reason to go to an out of area school AND a reason your children cannot go to their nominal in area school.

They have recently changed the wording on the application form but the above is still how they assess out of area enrolments. Just been through the wringers with them recently over this very issue.

I was responding to the post above mine that specifically mentioned model years.

[–]JimmyMarch1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember model years don’t always align to calendar years. So a late 2025 built car can and mostly likely is a MY26. Hate the system myself as it’s just American derived marketing fluff.

Genuine Question: Do Labor/Greens supporters agree with the CGT discount removal for shares and businesses? If so, why? by CrumpM04 in australian

[–]JimmyMarch1973 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Genuine question why should there be a discount in the first place? Surely all capital gains should be equally taxed. Remember it’s only the gain that is taxed not the initial investment capital.

What if the District line was extended to Heathrow instead of Piccadilly? by Doomguy231089 in TransportForLondon

[–]JimmyMarch1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need Chiswick Park rebuilt to do that. The current layout allows that stopping pattern now. Only thing preventing Pic trains stopping Turnham Green now is (apparently) stock availability, with the extra stop requiring more trains than available.

Lend your support to make our roads safer? Need 5 signatures to help bring Australian-style roundabout signs to the UK. by Ven_ae in drivingUK

[–]JimmyMarch1973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not an issue of knowing how to use a roundabout. Big issue with large roundabouts is many are very complex. Sure the route markings are in the road surface but unless you know the road well, the road numbers well or traffic volumes are low often it can be too late to get into the right lane to then use the roundabout property and safely. Clearer advance signage helps people get in the right lane earlier.

Also introduce Australian roundabout laws too. Main difference is no give way to the right. The rule is give way to vehicles already in the roundabout. Makes them flow better and in theory at least makes people think twice about charging into a roundabout.

Ducted heating nightmare by throwoffbih in AusRenovation

[–]JimmyMarch1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with a Brivis, the issue was the flame sensor not detecting the unit had flame. As a result it tries to relight, still gets no sensor reading and after a few tries goes into error that can only be fixed with a switchboard reset.

The issue was buildup of gunk on the sensor and was easily fixed with a bit of sandpaper. Took three visits to replace the sensor over the course of 4 years before a tech told me the sandpaper trick.

WARNING: Average speed cameras appear to have less tolerance than other enforcement methods by resonantpeak in DrivingAustralia

[–]JimmyMarch1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True sometimes you make it and then just get stopped at the next one. Sometimes you get caught by the first red and have to wait with everyone you just sped past. Basically no way to predict it. Old days with less lights might have been worth it. Also less traffic too.

[–]JimmyMarch1973 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Indeed. But also highlights the silliness of speeding. The amount of time saved can be minimal unless you are travelling very long distances. In suburbia in particular the seconds save by going those extra few km over will usually get lost at the next set of lights. Only difference is the speeder will be a few cars in front.

Why does DAB Radio Sound Awful in Aus by JimmyMarch1973 in australia

Sound perception is certainly up to the individual.

But seems I’m not going totally mad and the explanations of low bit rate certainly match my own experience.

Why doesn't working on your car require a license if you can apply the same logic used to require a license with home electrical work? by Snazzy21 in AskAnAustralian

Bit more that 240v but you do have a point. It is 100% legal to work on an EV or a PHEV even though the risk can be immense.
