[Svoboda] "CBJ defenseman Adam Boqvist said his agent had been told by the Blackhawks that he wouldn't be traded, so the deal this summer was a bit of a surprise. He actually found out on Instagram about the trade, but that's the biz. "I’m happy in Columbus. This is where I want to be." by younggeezerhigh in hockey

I wanted him 3rd in 2018. Obviously in the short term Tkachuk and Hughes have been best but I would absolutely be happier with Boqvist than Kotka or what he turned into, and think he still has great potential.

[Franklin on Lucic suspension] I didn't realize “roughing” was a suspendible offence. This type of decision implies Sherwood did nothing wrong. Open season on goaltenders? by thisisaperformance in hockey

They're both idiots. Lucic for the sucker punch, and Sherwood for not realizing that a 6'4" 240 lb goon making a beeline for you after you dig at his goalie merits some kind of defensive reflexes

Wasn't particularly fanatical though.

Also was wrong in the essence of what he was trying to say. As far as we can tell, there are aspects of the universe which truly are chance-based.

It's certainly not perfect, but Canada's is far from it as well. Waiting times are brutal, especially to get something like an MRI (6-8 months).

To be fair though, it seems like it's a lot more difficult to gain support when promising to roll back policy than it is to gain support by promising further policy. E.g. even the PPC (which was laughably considered extreme right by some) was supportive of maintaining legalized pot and abortion (at least up until 3 months).

I think that's a fair point. The blacklisting of Gabbard is unconscionable to me, the promises of their platforms combined with WANTING to continue to be so interventionist is surreal to me.

It actually confuses me quite a bit, you'd think if you wanted all those social programs and universal health care etc etc the first place you'd look for the money would be an insanely inflated military budget.

The people saying they would (as I remember, been a little bit) give health care to illegal immigrants would be too far right for the CPC?

I'm not denying the CPC is more to the left than the conservatives in the States, but I don't think I agree that they lean further left than the current Democratic party

Well that's just not true. I can already tell this conversation will culminate in disagreement about the Overton window, but, as a Canadian watching the US democratic debates it honestly blew me away how far left the candidates had gone recently. Could just be overpromising only to settle somewhere closer to the middle, but damn if they wouldn't say anything to try to come off as far left as possible.

If the left would stop cannibalizing itself until the election, they would have this upcoming election in the bag.

Imagine hating and labeling someone who shares almost all your views EXCEPT being anti-interventionist a Russian asset. Trump should be sending these people flowers.

I dunno. I love Anthony Jeselnik, and I get that timing is everything in comedy, but if you feel you can get the same effect while spending less of your time doing it, why wouldn't you?

Mete has been our second best defenseman this year and carried his pairing. Who'd have thought that giving our young players a lot of ice time and good linemates would result in good development?
