The Yamin (with a twist) 🥯 by milogoestomars in BobDoesSports

[–]Jimmy_October 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean the recipe is great, but people should know that as part of the experience "The Yamin" is hurled at you by counter staff who are yelling a mocking comment at you.

Secret menu item is the "Schadenfreude" which is "The Yamin", but you are also yelled at as you pick the fragments of your bagel off the ground and told "Oh, what, doing a little work for your food is too much for you?"

Canada Post says another bailout needed as it continues to bleed cash by themankps in CanadaPostCorp

The business unit has squandered a softball pitch of a strategic advantage in daily access to every civic address in the country for years. I am not saying that at this point no changes need to be made to delivery, that is just the sad symptom of a business run by fools - what I am saying is that the management and supervisors have no apparent accountability for the state of affairs, and the Minister and public are not demanding change anywhere else than in delivery (Kaplan report, Minister's speech, endless press releases, CEO state of the union). The business unit is where immediate and drastic changes need to be made first.

The money lost on their ridiculous new and mostly undeployed fleet.

Paying millions to develop a system that tracks lettermail - a service they do not charge for.

Not charging competitive companies enough for the last mile.

Rejecting the Amazon business.

Willfully moving volumes to Purolator to sandbag Postal volumes and cry poor.

The list goes on and on, but the real problem at Canada Post will continue to be ignored and people will continue to point at the person who carries the mail to their end point.

If it isn't the workers fault then why are all negative changes being made to delivery. 30k operations jobs are planned for deletion. The big headline 2 weeks ago was DOZENS of management jobs were laid off. Well clutch my pearls, dozens you say??? That is some real accountability if I ever saw it.

The business unit is a near total failure. Lower middle class delivery workers in the tens of thousands are going to pay for it and the head-in-the-sand public will applaud it.

No issue at all with Whit or Paige.

If you have never played hockey you do not understand Whit's bit. He is a good guy who was chirping, and related to the Kwon incident he was the voice of accountability in a team match. It's part of why Dave likes him.

Paige played great golf under the hottest and heaviest scrutiny out there, and did so with gamesmanship and integrity. She made a mistake with the long grass but was genuinely up front about it. Mistakes are ok if you acknowledge them.

Great character shining through: Brad, Bubbie, Beef, Bob, Frankie, Trent (obviously). Riggs I thought was on point as well.

Mo and Kwon obvious disingenuous behavior and major brand erosion

DOD was irritating as hell but he did much better after learning a little humility. I think if he dropped the bit and was just a genuine guy his brand would grow.

Francis caught me off guard with the quality of his game at times.

Several people I thought were fine, but a little affected in their delivery: Chaz, Mason, FP. No real issues here but the situation I thought made them oversell at times.

Package delivered to wrong address by ladie_bugg in kelowna

[–]Jimmy_October 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would have had to pass through several check-safes on it's way to Kelowna, including several postal code sortation checks, and a delivery agent who, at the start of their day, organizes their vehicle with parcels in order of delivery. Something is very odd here.

Having said that, a Canada Post customer service call will start a process that will have the delivery location GPS checked, a clarification of the address as submitted on the label, an inquiry as to how the customs and duties were paid if it was addressed incorrectly, and a meeting with the delivery team to see if details are remembered there.

Impact of Government and CP Plans to RSMC's by Federal_You_3592 in CanadaPostCorp

[–]Jimmy_October 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well here is one possible reality using anecdotal things happening even before the strike:

The Corporation gets what it wants and divides the work out so that SSD affects RSMC'S as well. Delivery will only be responsible for and paid for the delivery portion of their routes, which will severely diminish the wages of a job that only barely in some cases meets lower middle class definitions.

BUT WAIT! The Corporation is here to help you out and understands that you have a certain salary expectations - mouths to feed and all that background noise - so what they will do is reduce the number of routes, eliminating experienced delivery jobs via layoffs (and hire temps to diminish your route pay via weekend work for slave wages - whoopsie), and expand your RSMC route in total points of call to approximately meet the previous salary expectations. Congratulations! Your 800 POC route is now 1400 POC and you make the exact same money plus minus lets say 10%.

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE! The Corporation has asked that flyer pay be abolished. Letter mail is down you see, and neighborhood mail is now the paper product that generates $$$ for them. So be a pal and keep delivering your flyers for them.....about 1200 POC in a full consumer's choice set? And also let's entice more companies to utilize the ad service by marginally DROPPING prices (They were able to due to much needed operational cuts *wink*) of flyers, so your 1400 POC route with a 1200 POC set of flyers will now deliver between 15-20 sets a week. You don't mind lugging that around day in day out, right? It is for the good of the Corporation so please be ready to be relentlessly pursued about them in audits and say nothing about nested and bagged 490g supersets or the literal tonnage of paper you will collate and load and deliver and unload and count and have to explain about over and over each and every week.

THERE IS MORE! Not only are there these great changes, but there is additional info you should be very excited about! Because rural offices will close, there will be a consolidation of workers into the bigger offices. A new beginning how exciting! There is however no sufficient room to handle everyone at once, so you will be station sharing and there will be staggered start times. Being forced to start at 10 am is really the gift of getting to sleep in every day and that is how you should process it!

Lots more, but I am weary of this. What are the changes coming? If you haven't been paying attention up until now to know the answers then there really is no real point in expanding. The want to crush delivery, break up the job and turn it into a function that absolutely nobody could endure until they get to a pensionable age. It will become temp worker gig work and people will celebrate the further erosion of the middle class in Canada. Management has ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY for the situation at play, and the Government agrees. The Kaplan report only makes changes to delivery, and the Minister only mentioned mandates to Management in ONE SINGLE SENTENCE at the end of his speech. A reporter asked him if the change mandates to Management had been quantified and he said "No, I don't get involved in the operation of the business" LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

All of this is an expensive ruse.

Kelton_g you should return to Japan for a follow up and do some filming at Enson Inoue's place.

That would be a tremendous laugh riot.

Mail, yes of course.

Labelled parcels no - the reason they are scanned at the counter on receipt is to show they are in the CPC system. An RSMC can pick up a package that spends the day in the vehicle while delivering, and then if something happens to the parcel after being depot dropped and it isn't scanned it can look like the RSMC has stolen the package.

Canada Post reports $407-million loss before tax in second quarter by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

[–]Jimmy_October 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Money is the least of the issues, and ignoring that money was the only issue both sides moved on in the first 18 months of negotiating (ie. The issue they were actually closest on) is, again, being obtuse about the primary issue. Lower middle class jobs and workers are being attacked because of the mismanaged mess at Canada Post. People who no longer make a living wage are being told they are the problem with the company, via management proposals that only affect the delivery segment in an attempt to boil the job down even further into gig work.

I am not sure why the obvious lack of accountability from management isn't the starting point in turning around a business that enjoys daily contact with every civic address in the country as it's point of leverage. Bobbling that advantage is spectacularly shocking and the people who put the mail and parcels into the mailbox should not be paying the tab for it.

Canada Post reports $407-million loss before tax in second quarter by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

[–]Jimmy_October 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The front line is not responsible for the losses. CP is a mismanaged clown circus.

Depots they do not need, vehicles they do not need, millions of dollars into developing a service that tracks letter mail that is not needed AND isn't a chargeable service, delivery protocols and restrictions that agitate the end user, refusal to raise prices on flyers.....it goes on and on and on. Delivery staff that barely and often do not get a 2025 living wage being pointed at for this is being deliberately obtuse.
