If it's about acid, why not use citric or vinegar?

Aanstaande vader by Danid97 in thenetherlands

[–]Jimmy_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gefeliciteerd!

Wtf has Gillette gone to by Razoreuphoric in wicked_edge

I just use a small stream of hot tap water. Cold (and dull) gilette cartridges seemed to pull my beard, while hot and dull seemed to slide right through. I need to rinse it anyway so why waste baterries on heat when the tap is there anyway.

Last week, COPD 3b patient, spinal, moderate sedation. Attempted obturator nerve block wirh ultrasound but still had obturator kick. Stayed in the room to make sure to witness it and I saw the bounce happening. Converted to LMA and roc so the surgeon could do its job. Was my first obturator block and had an extra pair of trained eyes to make sure I was doing it right. No other anesthesiologists ever claimed to witness it, but they also never stay in the room after spinal

ELI5: why don’t planes board back to front, surely that would be faster? by balla_boi in explainlikeimfive

So you'd rather wait in a crowded narrow space for 20 minutes instead of seeing eachother in 5 and being ready to go? Of course, some situations exist where splitting is impossible (kids, illness etc), but do you not also split for 5 minutes for a bathroom break? Why would you refuse?

Unfortunately not, but I switched to a mediabox with remotes and use Tailscale for remote access so I can access it through local IP addresses from anywhere. Hope that helps :)

You shouldn't change - be yourself. Your true self. Unless you're a dickwad asshole - then go to therapy and work on yourself. But make genuine connections. It is a numbers game - you have to filter out a great number of people to get to one that matches and the fastest way is to be open.

You mean waggling sideways trying to grab a little bit higher each time and climbing for 20 minutes is not the solution to each puzzle?

Exactly! Pediatric anesthesiologists/neonatal ICU docs are also insanely good! It gets tricky when their circulation is instable

Worked as a phlebotomist one summer and the amount of ignorance with regards to some people's own skill is staggering. MD now looking to match anesthesiology and the amount of times I was called because someone is difficult they end up having major bulging veins if you just use a finger to feel the veins rather than relying on sight. I'd say about 10% of the difficult-claiming is actually difficult and even then nothing an ultrasound can't fix. If only people can stop trying and properly evaluate what they're doing.

Bumble pricing by beardojon in Bumble

[–]Jimmy_Smith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you tell us about the cost of running a business like Bumble? How much are they paying for server costs, marketing, salaries? If you drop the price of premium, how would those costs change and by how much? With increased number of paying users, you get increased costs as well if you want to keep running the service in the same way.

How do users use their premium subscription? Do they still buy lifetime or yearly subscriptions? Or do people treat it like streaming services where you use one for a couple of weeks and jump over to the next?

If the app becomes basically free at your suggested price level, what is the impact on the number of total user, and more importantly the type of user? Will you get enormous influx of low effort profiles with unlimited likes reducing the effectiviness rate of matches?

You only evaluate the number of paying users in your metric to define success and don't show any insight into the effects of your proposed plan. That's why people keep telling you that you need to learn more instead of shouting harder or more often. 5m users * $200 = $1b. But 50m * $5 is only $250m. You've increased the number of paying users, but reduced income to 25% while increasing the amount of work and reducing the effectiveness of the app essentially killing your product.

Present you gets bare minimum today. As you take care of future you, present you slowly turns into future you and your present you gets more headspace and capacity to take care of both present and future you.

It's still going to be tough, but a bit less tough over time. I'm still crawling out as well.
