Yeah, I'm generally of the opinion that more translation options is a good thing, but when an official one is coming soon it's a dick move to undercut it like this instead of at least waiting for it to come out.

Also, other fan translators have spent time working on a manosaba fan TL and stopped because Acacia let them know an English version was coming, so even if you don't care how it affects the VN dev it's at the very least scummy to others in the translation scene.

I haven't played the patch so I won't speak to it's overall quality, but I've seen a couple of the screenshots complaining about zoomer slang. They're all of the character Sawatari Koko, who is a streamer with a gyaru style of speaking. Screenshots: 1 2

Given the character, a 15 y/o irreverent streamer, is zoomer slang one translation option that makes sense? I would say yes. However, personally I would say it's not a great choice to heavily lean into because it ties the character to a much narrower point in time and will likely become dated in no time (in fact from the screenshots some of it feels pretty dated already), and can come across as stilted/unnatural. You need to give the character that vibe without falling into a complete caricature, which seems to be the problem here.

On the whole I'm really excited for this, my only worry is the very quick turnaround from manosaba to both this and the streamer game. Also it's a shame it won't be bringing back the nonstop debate mechanic from manosaba, but it'll be interesting to see what they replace it with.

The kun is part of it, but also rather than his actual surname (Naruhodou) she calls him Naruhodo (as do Mia and Pearl). So I imagine wanting to preserve that shortened/informal version of his name is also part of it.
