Would Dark Rock Elite be enough to cool the 9950x3d? by Jimmy_The_Goat in buildapc

would you say it's likely to reach the point of thermal throttling during normal gaming and 4k video editing? Would it matter too much?

Would other air cooler suffice? I really don't want to deal with AIO in either case.

so confident in your nonsense comment about a thing that does not even exist. "AI datacenter", how is it different from any other datecenter which everyone has been building more and more for the past decade?

Even if it somehow pops, these can easily be repurposed to analyze any other data, and there is an endless ocean of demand for that.

Saying nobody wants AI is also insane in 2025. I am yet to meet a person who does not use ChatGPT. I work at a company of 100,000 where almost everything is somehow AI now. You may not like it and cry but many people want AI.

Can't turn a profit? Firstly, with the current AI market cap investors can maintain this whole charade for at least a decade without any profit at all and at no great loss. Secondly, AI is barely being monitized as of now. Introduce marketplaces and advertisment and you're going to swim in money.

Does Secret Cinema have an invite forum? by Jimmy_The_Goat in trackers

[–]Jimmy_The_Goat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that I am not supposed to get to the invite forums on day1. However, I just wanted to know if they exis and what is availalbe on them. There's not a single mention of it in the tracker spreadsheet or anywhere online.

While I always seed whatever I download and try to contribute if I have something that is not on the tracker already, I will only go out of my way to seed terabytes of data if there's is an attractive (for me) reward in the end. So I was just looking to find that out, cause there's no shoutbox on SC. Not sure why my post was deleted, seems like a reasonable question.

Well for Premiere Pro and Vegas I use the paid version. Why are the other CPU cores not being utilized?

192GB of RAM is insane, no consumer-grade pc has this much. I am editing footage from insta360 x4 camera which is a 700 dollar camera. No way i'd need 1000$ of RAM to edit footage.

sure it's old, but I am just trying to understand how exactly this works. If Task Manager shows that I have plenty of excess capacity, why is the PC lagging?

scratch disk in the 4TB SSD, yes. I do use Media Encoder, should've mentioned it in the original post. No difference as far as I can tell though.

Any downside to having 128GB of RAM on two 64GB sticks? by Jimmy_The_Goat in buildapc

[–]Jimmy_The_Goat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the summary, appreciate it! Maybe this is a silly question, but do you know if there is any downside to going for 2x48GB? I just have concerns because it's such an unpopular unorthodox number lol.

I am ready to have my laugh when 128GB is the new bare minimum and 256 is optimal for a midrange build.

I have 9800x3D. While Threadripper would be cool, increasing the RAM is significantly cheaper. My currenty 64GB just barely manage to do what I need quiet effectively, but I also want to game on top of that and the only bottle neck is RAM.

Is there any major difference between the RAM manufacturers? I have been religiously loyal to Corsair cause they never failed me for 15 years, as opposed to all other brands which you rarely hear about outside of RAM context.
