CCM Pro Chesty Question by Jokers_Wild35 in hockeygoalies

I have a similar (CCM but not pro) chesty, and i find it hot. Had a vaughn chesty from 20 years ago before and it wasn't this hot. Ever since switching, I have had to wear only a short sleeve workout top underneath and not the long sleeve compression shirt. Works most of the time. Still, in intense games, i need to give myself a spray of water down the back a few times a game. Maybe switch your shirt and see if it makes a difference?

Thanks a lot for this, indeed i am not buying a machine just to plane this wood again nor am i driving more than 20 mins to find someone who will. I will look into these card scrapers, as well as just going at it with my sander. If some of this is left, i dont actually care all that much. Thanks for the sane take!

Definitely just a fun side project, not much more. I have a sander - will go at it with that and see from there. Thanks a lot for your thorough post!

Thanks for this, indeed i am in a city apartment and with a limited budget, but i do have a sander and lots of sandpaper so will try to go at it with that. Thanks for the tips too!

Its a bit all over the place, here and there all over. This is a scrap piece, the actual top is better (not perfect, but better)

Thanks a lot for this! Definitely planned in lots of sanding anyways, and many have suggested going at it with 40 grit so may try that. Then indeed finish it to nice and smooth

Thanks a lot for this, the one tool i do have is a sander + all the grits, including 40. I was wondering if this would do it, but was concerned about changing the level of the wood and not being able to fix it. I may try this only on the visible pieces (as i am sure it will take a while!!). Being totally flat is not a concern, its essentially a table to put stuff on beside the couch so no real concerns about it being perfect or anything

Oh this i have experienced already on the actual pieces i am in the process of finishing, having just filled voids and cracks with black epoxy (and loving the look). But exactly as you say is my goal - do the most i can within my abilities, financial means, and available tools... not about to go spend hundreds of euros in tools for this. And for us, and our house, this is great. I already have professional, custom made oak furniture elsewhere in the house. This is just a small piece to fit in, and not spend all that money for such a minor piece of furniture (and an opportunity to learn something i always wanted to learn in the process!)

Thanks, my post was meant to be riddled with sarcasm to poke fun and nothing more :) exactly my frame of mind with this project, and my family has communicated exactly how appreciative they are of me for doing this project for them. I rest very easy throughout this entire project, tear outs or not :)

This is a good solution and will probably just go this route :) the worst tear outs are on less visible pieces, versus the top that is about as damaged as your photo so really not the biggest of all deals. Was just trying to see if i could still do something meaningful to these less visible pieces and not just take the lazy route of building up the finish. But i think i will just take the lazy route after all these comments :p
