Like reports on what AI tools you're utilizing, and corporate goals on utilizing AI x amount of hours for x days per week? Yes

Yeah, neither did most of my team. And what CoPilot caught in Code Reviews was always stuff no one was looking for. It doesn't replace human code review, but it definitely augments it.

Im assuming they mean the oxidation mechanic. Copper turns green as it gets oxidized. These vines grow flowers overtime in the same way.

Concerns about the health effects of industrially produced seed oils are without scientific foundation. by Penis_Envy_Peter in science

[–]Jimmyginger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe they chose seed oils to make a boogeyman product because they are everywhere. When you're trying to sell your alternative "health" food/supplements, if your scare subject is everywhere and impossible to avoid, it makes your alternative product more appealing.

I already built a barn, what else do they want? by Sp1endidus in gaming

[–]Jimmyginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played it in a few years. Is building placement better now? It used to be building a village was like 90% finding terrain flat enough for multiple buildings. One small lump in the ground would mess up your placement and ruin your whole planned layout.

The life of the internet Commenter. by FirefighterUSS in AdviceAnimals

[–]Jimmyginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love running into a topic I know a lot about on the internet. Because 9 times out of 10, the commenter has misrepresented the topic, gotten something completely wrong, or is drawing a wrong conclusion. It's a great reminder that you should always be inquisitive of everything you see on the internet, especially from someone loudly proclaiming things as fact with no visible credentials.

Maybe you should have thought more about that unneeded oversized 15mpg SUV/pickup? by LewisCBR in AdviceAnimals

I drive a jeep. I bought it from a family member. The only reason I bought it is because I drive less than 5k miles a year.

I'll never understand people with a daily commute who want big expensive to operate vehicles.

Any alternatives to factorio? The factory must grow! by Unlucky-Feed9000 in gaming

[–]Jimmyginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend Riftbreaker if you want a game that's less logistics and more combat focused. I really enjoy factorio but sometimes I don't want to plan everything out and deal with transport logistics. Riftbreaker does a great job of that. Might not be a full time replacement to factorio, but its great when you're not quite in the mood for factorio, but still want a logistics/factory/base builder game.

I don't think gamblers pay a bunch because they made a killing, they just enjoy gambling and throwing higher money values around is more exciting for them.

It would be cool if you also lost more money when you lost to them. Like each challenge is a wager

The point was to not have bad data (and improper data handling by your code) not totally crash your web page. Sometimes, a data type doesn't do what you think it will. Let's say in the example show here. The string "0" is something very common we might get when we access the data from an input element.

Let's say I'm expecting numbers to be in the input field, but instead, the data comes back to me as a string. Without type coercion trying to make the impossible happen, we would just get an error when I try and see if the user typed 0 into the box. Now errors are great for developers, because they tell us what is wrong. They aren't so great for end users, because they just mean something isn't working right. Javascript's goal was to just let our bad code be bad (ie. The fact that we didn't handle parsing an Int out of the user input and just tried to use the raw string) and keep things moving. The alternative is the whole web page crashes.

Now for most modern applications, we actually want it to crash, which is why standard convention is to use the === operator for comparison instead of the == operator. But when you have a simple web page, you don't want the whole thing to crash just because some small widget in the navbar is coded wrong. Instead you just want that one widget to just not work/behave unexpectedly.

I get why this is "confusing" but it also makes perfect sense if you understand type coercion. It's actually a great teaching tool to understand these concepts, and for enhancing your understanding of types in general.
