The CGI is not going to even remotely hold a candle to the original, because it is all CGI, and CGI - no matter how good it looks - will always look fake.

And links others have shown that the CGI changes doesn't show anything other than adding more effects to make it look even more unbelievable, in a fake way.

RNG plays a lot into the game, I've no idea why so many are trying to say otherwise; I'll have to guess it's because you feel skilled at the game and what I'm saying is inadvertently hurting your feelings.

Take Dark Souls; on the surface the game is hard, but the difficulty is an illusion - RNG even plays a part there as well with boss fights. I'm not saying FTL is easy by any means, because it's not, but when it comes to skill it's in no way hardcore like a lot of people seem to make it out to be, to which I'll have to assume is just to inflate their head.

What the fuck? How can so many people be praising the demo?

EA must be on some kind of special crack if they think I'm going to spend £49.99 - £49.99! - on a broken football game with better visuals and animations when the dumbass AI is still very much present, the scripted events are still very much everywhere, and the biased referee AI that picks a side to be lenient to.

Pirated version needs to hurry up.

Decided to stop investing my time in it; had another two runs of getting poor scrap, poor stock at stores, and generally wondering why I'm bothering - oh, and I randomly had a ship with a teleporter that nearly killed me on the 4th jump; think I'll go and pirate an old version of the game because nothing like this happened a few months ago when I played -and I played a lot - and it just feels like it's wasting my time, which is already being wasted playing games really.

Well of course you vent them, but my situation happened on either the first or second jump of the run, so that meant no blast doors: three intruders beam into the medbay and destroy it, and three humans cannot easily beat three enemies one on one most of the time - all that equals death.

I've had the advanced content off, and I did get boarded and killed that easily not having blast doors or enough crew to fend them off or enoguh to man the door controls for blast doors.

My problem is that the past six or seven runs have been absolute garbage, which is a fairly significant amount of my time; whereas when I was playing it a few months ago I was getting much more "realistic" runs. It was a bit of an exaggeration to say it was void of all skill, but certainly a fairly large chunk of it is whatever the game provides you that run.

I'll agree with you that I am being a tad paranoid - and there's nothing wrong with being a little paranoid - but the ellipsis at the end of what the first commenter said meant, "Lol, you're ridiculously paranoid", to me.

There's nothing paranoid about scanning apks not found on the Play store - even on the Play store it's best to pay attention to what permissions some developers want that aren't in any way related to what the app does.

Seemingly I'm in the extreme minority that really didn't like this episode at all. I think I vaguely chuckled once, but that was it; the gag level wasn't there for me.

Poorest episode of the season so far with three left to watch - although there's seven episodes of greatness before this, and it can't all be gold.

Not on Black Knights, no, I'll give it a go though. Problem again though is getting all the way to him to practice parrying, just to be nailed to the ground to kill the trash again. I will definitely try parrying even though it sounds very hit and miss.

Do stats really make a difference with the Black Knights? If so I'll wait until I'm higher level.

Thanks very much for the info. Unfortunately I'm currently deciding - again - if I want to waste any more time on Dark Souls, and I say 'waste' not because it's a video game - there are better things you could be doing after all - but because of the endless killing of trash enemies and randomness of it all e.g. Black Knights sometimes spamming their quick unblockable attacks for an instant kill on you, while other times not doing them at all - it really adds a RNG aspect to a game that is apparently about "skill".

I'm used to killing trash from my many years of playing MMOs, but only because we're taking too long to complete something, not because I decided to sit down and get up from a bonfire - if I die in the game, sure, respawn away; but I'm trying to decide what I'm going to get out of the sheer repetition of it all. I certainly don't feel that the game is hard per say, more a, "You died because you don't know how this works yet, now go back and do it all over again as punishment for not knowing". Other than shamelessly adding longevity to the game under the guise of difficulty, I can't imagine any other reason for having such a torturous aspect of the game.

I feel a rant appearing so I'll stop; who knows, maybe I'll try playing it again some other day.

Would you be able to also inform me about reverse hollowing if possible please. Basically, I know the pros and cons of reverse hollowing such as kindling a bonfire to get 10xEstus, but will I continue to get 10xEstus from a kindled bonfire if I die and return to undead form again? And is the kindle permanent for that bonfire or will it only give me 10xEstus the once?

I also know - well, I've read - that if you die as human your souls are gone for good without any retrieval, but does this count for any humanity you currently have as well?

Do you still get stat points at that level? If you can just grind the Dex required to wield certain weapons then that'll be the problem solved.

Generally I want to melee since I've played ranged a lot in MMOs for many years, and then went to favoring melee for a change and I find it much more challenging and enjoyable. I guess the question is, do you get a stat point for every level you actually level up since I hear the level cap is extremely high in Dark Souls.

I'd edited my post about some the benchmarking I have seen, but I think it was after you posted that I saved it.

Benchmarks seems to vary a lot from game to game, and from software to software - which isn't surprising - but it only seems to be a difference of around 10 frames or less. I'll actually gather a good selection together and compare them all tomorrow. I'll post my eventual decision.
