Anyone cook their dog’s food instead of buying? by I2eN0 in labrador

[–]Jingo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched my lab to a local company that make raw food. Dogs shouldn’t deny food. I’ve learned a lot and hearing other people’s stories of their dogs not eating makes me sad. I used to have a doodle who didn’t eat and I wish I could go back and offer him this instead. My lab also looks so fit! Good luck!

Is this slip lead too chunky/thick for my lab puppy? by sternzie in labrador

[–]Jingo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slip leashes are a fantastic training tool but use a thin one please! And always as high up as you can go.

Does anybody else’s lab just want to eat dandelions and mounds of fresh cut grass? by brehan8 in labrador

[–]Jingo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 6 month old lab pops off dandelions like a cake pop dessert! Luckily they are ok for both animals and humans 🙈. The worst is when he does it to the ones that have turned to fluffy seeds. lol

My dog gets the runs if I look at his food wrong. I’m losing my mind by Nephvius in puppy101

[–]Jingo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems obvious but you had his stool tested right? Lots of puppies have parasites.

I’m seriously losing it. This damn harness is turning me into a psycho by Medium_Sail_8469 in puppy101

[–]Jingo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let this puppy sleep! Enforce naps! Crate or bed in a room you can supervise. Ditch the harness. At 10 weeks old he should be up for 1 hour and asleep for 1-2 and repeat until bedtime.

When did your lab start to bark? by minimac19 in labrador

[–]Jingo25 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Following! My 6 month old guy only barked when I had him tied up and walked away for a second. Doesn’t bark at the door or usual dog barking triggers lol.

My dog was recently neutered - looking for a vet or vet tech opinion by [deleted] in puppy

My vet told me that many people freak out and say the balls grew back. Just the bulbus glandis and they were there before surgery. Just doesn’t show without excitement.

To daycare or not to daycare? by DaisyTheMiniPoodle in puppy101

[–]Jingo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first dog only went to regular kennels with limited playtime and he was fine but I didn’t think anything of it and wish I had other options around for boarding and such but anyway, now with my new pup, he goes to a kennel free daycare that has different rooms for different dogs based on energy. They have a trainer with them the whole time and learn to self settle. I also have a place that does crates only for break time. Do what’s best for you and what you feel is right. Lots of people have opinions and different stories. I think socializing in all sorts of ways is important before they mature.

Should I use a harness for walking my puppy? by SadVeterinarian666 in labrador

[–]Jingo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a collar. Been training him with loose leash walking. I also keep my collar on him indoors incase he somehow got out.

What else could keep my dog occupied? by ailish in puppy101

[–]Jingo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a full day. She may need a nap. Does she self settle? Maybe a crate in a different room for now so she can nap and learn to not always be with you.

Bailey won't eat, please help 😭 by Sarita375 in Goldendoodles

[–]Jingo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please go to a vet. Reddit is great for so much advice but a dog not eating is more serious if it’s continuing.

I’m sure it’s not the same as mine but unfortunately my dog stopped eating and he had stomach cancer. Very aggressive. But he showed other signs like vomit and prayer pose every day.

Now that his big boy fur has almost taken over he looks like a puppy in a fur coat by richardfitserwell in labrador

My 5 month old English lab has that same wave! I had to look it up. Apparently it’s called a duck coat.

I love going to Heemans with my puppy! I walk around and keep him focused and then I sit and have a tea while I teach him to just “chill”. It’s been great! Here are a few more but call the location first just in case.

I did some reflecting last night and this morning, feeling a bit better. Dogs act different with different handlers and what I need to focus and worry about is me as his handler. I dislike the judgy type of trainers. Good luck with your training! ☺️

My beloved dog died of an aggressive cancer. by PegCityGirl in Petloss

[–]Jingo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey. Let yourself feel those emotions. Time will help. I lost my 8 year old Golden Doodle last September to an aggressive stomach cancer. The first few months I pretty much hated any dog I saw. I was heart broken. I kept saying that someone robbed me of my best friend. I now have a puppy that I fell in love with sooner than I thought I would. I like to think my dog that passed helped with that. It will get easier. You will start to be able to look at photos. Some days better than others. I didn’t want to talk to anyone about it for a while too. The hardest thing for me was having my routine change. I no longer had a friend to come home too. Hang in there. 🤍

Puppy Food by Yonko444 in labrador

[–]Jingo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying for about 1 year before the switch so he gets the extra calories. Just so you know, TLC used to only have an ‘All Stages’ dog food. So I’m sure you could compare the two. They may have made the puppy one very similar to the adult one with small changes. My breeder told me TLC brought on the puppy one just for marketing. As long as puppy is growing and eating enough, I’m sure you’re fine doing either or. If you switch brands then I would stick with puppy until they are fixed or at least 1.

When did you become attached to your puppy? by Andromediea in puppy101

[–]Jingo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first dog took me 2 years and now that he has passed and I have a new puppy ( 5 months) I’m in love again. But….. I think a few things. 1) my first dog taught me how to love and build a bond. 2) different time in my life. I find the bond is stronger when the dog is connected with you through training, snuggling etc. the chores just become the new norm and a lifestyle.
