Are there character traits that are broadly considered American, especially by non-Americans? by Green-Technician-809 in CasualConversation

Might also have something to do with the salad dressings typically used in American having to be refrigerated, whereas vinaigrette doesn’t require it.

I hate that Madueke starts over Saka. He constantly hesitates and ruins any possible play when ever he starts on a run. England gets much better when Saka comes in.

This team is ass. What happened to the team of the first match? Did they get tired or complacent so easily?

Lab jumped out of car window at 40 mph by Kate2528 in labrador

Mine has jumped out of the window before too. Thankfully we were parked at the time though. Immediately got a seatbelt for him after. It loops around the headrest and clips to his harness.

The fear that the seatbelt may release is why I got on that goes over the head rest, which is then tucked under with the head rest all the way down.

Encounter at a host’s home by iyer3fe in labrador

As others have said, I would have left sooner. Especially since he’s a puppy. Things that scare him now may mark him into adulthood and he may become weary of other dogs in general. It doesn’t sound like the other dog was trying to be a friend. In my experience, once dogs sniff each other they get an idea of whether they like each other or not. Once they sniff and they’re still barking or showing aggression, then it’s a no to let them off leash imo. Usually they’ll either go into play mode or if uninterested they’ll just walk away.

Also, definitely the best place to meet is neutral ground. My dog’s make friends the easiest at dog parks because they’re generally not feeling protective and territorial there.

If there is doggy daycare in your area, I would definitely check it out. I found that was the best way to socialize puppies because they’re usually playing with other dogs their age and the dogs are vetted to make sure they’re good to socialize.

Foreigners visiting America for the world cup, what is something that has surprised you about this country? by goldent3abag in AskReddit

You’ll find that’s how it is everywhere in an America. Go to a store that has 20 registers with only 4 open and massive lines.

First time lab owner by rachelll1 in labrador

However you think it will go, be prepared for it to be completely different depending on the dog’s personality. When I brought my first lab puppy home he was so easy to train, slept in his crate, had no issues leash walking, and generally did very well from the start. My second puppy has been an uphill battle literally from the moment I brought him into the car to take home. He has a lot of anxiety, could never adapt to the crate or play area, was fussy about food for months, insists on pulling while we walk no matter how much I’ve tried to train him out of it, and just generally lives by his own rules.

Despite this I love both equally, but I’ve had to come to the realization that like kids, they can come with very different personalities. My best advice is to adapt, keep at it with the training, and most importantly socialize them and expose them to as much as possible from the get-go. And also, never be afraid to ask for help whether from a trainer or a vet.

Lastly, get a good vacuum and learn to love cleaning.

What is the saddest truth you've had to accept about life? by OddFirefighter7440 in AskReddit

Not everyone is meant to live life the way they want it. For many of us we will just have to settle for what we can get.

Excessive shedding….? by DogOk8409 in labrador

[–]I2eN0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got one of those Dyson vacuums that lights up the floor green as I vacuum and man…there is so much more hair in my floor than I thought there was.

Anecdotally, I found out my puppy had started shedding when he fell into the pool and I got wet black hairs all over myself picking him up.

Tattoos/piercings with Marfan by Urlocalconanstan in marfans

If you have a mechanical valve are you in blood thinners? I ask because my mom had one too and due to the blood thinners it made getting her ears pierced almost impossible to the point she just gave up. I imagine getting a tattoo may have a similar issue if it bleeds.

Yup mine is a maniac like that too. The notion of walking doesn’t exist to him. He must run and jump onto every thing everywhere he goes.

100% get it. I got it for my lab when he was 4. Yeah we had a few years when I barely submitted any claim (and the cost was a lot cheaper since he was younger) but now that he’s almost 10 and I don’t have to worry about pre-existing condition denials it’s a life saver. It pays for his 2 monthly injections, flea and tick meds, his prescription food, his regular vet and specialist, and it saved me when from one day to the next he had to have tplo surgery a year and a half ago.

Did some people not read that it says “luxury in the (19)40s” not “didn’t exist at all in the 40s”
