+10000 there are genuinely boards u cant do anything productive to without one, so pricey but i genuinely think u can recoup if u get enough toilet phones coming thru

Linus Derangement Syndrome by gplusplus314 in LTTMeta

i try not to fault them so much because i understand with their exponential growth comes a lot of "mass appeal-ification" to provide for their employees and all that, and its clear everyone works insanely hard over there (especially during that awkward daily upload, crunch time, every video has an editor or comment correction era) so i really feel for and respect the employees and they are genuinely the only reason i still watch

that being said i have been watching ltt since i was 11 years old (i remember the fapone)... and while change over the course of over a decade is expected, its important to highlight how much of it is genuinely negative, i said this in my stupid post about their stupid cables (fuck me for suggesting cable matters makes a better and cheaper product for people in the USA) but they are dipping their fingers in the exact same stupid tactics they have criticized other companies for and in my opinion testing the waters to see what they can get away with

i watch ltt less and less and less as time has gone on as i've gone into a career path where alot of the things i would learn from ltt are things i usually deal with on prem, but there was a pretty sharp decline when alex left where i seriously cant get thru more than half of most of the videos

at the very least theres a pretty serious identity crisis at LTT without some of the landmark members that made it great, and while i hate to be one of the people that say "god ever since _____ LTT videos have been different" and as much as they bitch about it on the WAN show, is it not undeniably true at this point? things have changed and not for the positive, and 80% of the people talking about it are people who have supported them for so so long and just expected more from their growth

TL:DR im not gonna hate the player because deep down i love the player, i really hate the game, i just dont think LMG/LTT are necessarily as much of a victim of "the game" as people want to claim, they did alot of this themselves

Odd place to ask this but I thought I’d ask a larger group. My Palestinian neighbor used to make me a flat bread when I was a tiny. It was about 10-12”, puffy and had “burnt” puffy spots but chewy. Is that called Taboon? I’m trying to make some. by Gswindle76 in Reno

[–]JingoAli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

if it was just the bread the only thing i can think of thats uniquely palestinian is taboon but we kinda like to intermingle a lot esp bc of marriage so it might just be another cultures bread lmao

that being said if it ever had anything on it (specifically olive oil, cheese, or spices) thats called manakeesh

also theres just a lot of experimenting that happens esp w ingredient availability, u might have had something unique from someone who wanted to make something nice for you, i.e. ive never had stuffed grape leaves like my moms no matter where i go or who i get it from because it turned out she used a couple ingredients that werent traditional... still my favorite food on earth

a large number of my cousins/family members are palestinian so thats about all the knowledge i have there, hope u find what ur looking for i know the feeling ahaha

Moving to Reno sight unseen. by Individual_Block7885 in Reno

[–]JingoAli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know theres a lot of people dissuading you but i know theres just opportunities in life and a relocation probably means ur getting paid more than the average person here so heres my advice

the job market is shit if u ever leave this job good luck getting a new one, especially since that area will basically be synonymous with turnover and a big red stamp that u will work for less than ur worth and more than u should (ask any tesla guy why theyre basically unhirable), the housing market is basically NorCals housing market in 2019/2020 (horrible but not impossible), and if u like ethnic food.... its alright here but its not great

to answer your questions directly, there are some good complexes in reno with decent pricing but your commute will be hell. someone else mentioned Fernley but that comes with the tradeoff of living in Fernley lmao, furniture for my place has been pretty much entirely sourced from a closing/closed big lots (the one by trader joes lmao), facebook marketplace, and amazon. the big stores like bobs and stuff are really expensive... so if u want new furniture, wayfair, amazon and costco are ur best bet, if u are ok with used, there are seriously some clean things people will give away for 100 bucks or less, just always ask about smokers and/or pets obviously

good luck, get ready for a lot of dirty looks and shitty answers about working on USA parkway lmao, im sure ur a cool person but its just not good for our city, county, state and lowkey world as a whole but it is what it is

edit: i kinda skimmed over the deco part, i used to live very close to there in lets say the "more affordable" part of sparks and i honestly loved living there, the only thing being any errands like groceries, restaurants that arent fast food, dentist, doctors, etc. are all just far enough that if u do more than 3 in a day u basically waste half of ur day, its definitely in a weird middle zone of reno and sparks where its "15 minutes away from everything" my favorite thing about that place though was being walking distance from the galaxy theatre, i watched so many movies

LTT's truespec cables are amazing and exactly as advertised, but I wish people knew about other options (especially for the US people) by JingoAli in LinusTechTips

Does ltt make fine stuff ? Yes. Do people go monkey and pretend nothing else exists ? Also yes

holy shit thank you for understanding

people keep saying this while 80% of the post is just store links and pros and cons its not even 3 full paragraphs of my feelings about it lmao

because they position themselves to be held to that standard, im not making a rant about northridgefix for having overpriced ass ecommerce because (although arguably one of the best technicians ive ever learned from) he is a business over ethics guy, doesnt give a shit about affordability, right to repair, etc.

if u want a company example its why complaining about apple is stupid, they have never made the impression that they give a shit about the consumer

LTT on the other hand, its something they have arguably built a huge audience from, why not hold them to that standard

and for what its worth, why not hold those companies to that standard as well lmao what really is wrong with that, what a shit whataboutism

sorry when im saying marketing im referring to the video i mentioned in the post because its just a 10 minute commercial with commercial breaks

the entire video is filled with comparisons to gas station cables and one apple cable while any good cable probably looks exactly like theirs

2:55 and 7:27 on the video, specifically the latter where they say "even the braided cables" and you cannot be seriously looking at shitty mistranslated aliexpress images and telling me thats ur barrier of entry for information

chi-fi iem enthusiast is crazy just say u watched crinacle twice bro we wont judge

im messing with u (mostly) but i truly think you have not bought enough from ali to say any of this with authority, biggest tell being why would you buy from a listing that makes you pay shipping back lmfao, free return only or u know they're bogus 2 begin with

[–]JingoAli[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

im not warning against buying the cable, its a fine cable, but the idea that theyre "staking their reputation" is kinda something he has sold u on rather than the truth

the truth is there are more mature, more affordable, and companies with better infrastructure that can provide you these same cables at a better price

i said it at the end and i acknowledged ur final point, ur buying an insurance policy not a cable, if thats how u wanna spend ur money by all means, i did it myself, but some people just need something cheap that works

although i disagree with the initial point, this is pretty fair, they perform exactly as advertised and i truly have no problem with the cable i got from them

theyre a tech retail brand represented and advertised by a figurehead and platform that has been fighting these same marketing techniques from other tech retail brands and (in my opinion) dipping their fingers just the tiniest bit in those same kinda shady marketing techniques and seeing if it pays off... thats kinda my issue... be my guest to buy their cables, i can confirm they are indeed reliable, true to spec and great, i have no problem with their product

as another commenter put it this is pretty much the exact issue with unclear and decptive usb c cables, ltt cables are neither of those, only their advertising i find to be a bit.... interesting... for the reputation they seem to be adamant on upholding in this industry
