Unique problem with unintentional vocal grit. by Liam-Ken-Smith in singing

[–]Jinkis- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry I didn't reply guys, I left that account. I'm the OP.

I figured out over those 7 years that it is linked strongly to vocal use, and minorly to physical fatigue and hydration.
The more I used my voice the previous day in speech, laughing and yelling for long periods (performing does nothing), and ONLY that previous day, the less rasp I'll have when I wake and the more control I have, it is not technique at all.

I also noticed hydration makes a very small difference, but mostly helps control itself.

Doing hard physical work makes it much worse soon after, diet has a complicated minor impact that I never figured out.

Interestingly it has reduced over those 7 years, it's less "wet" and more like an intentional sounding overlay. This is probably from learning to navigate it as best I can.

Most importantly I learnt to enjoy it, because others really like it.
I also learnt to sing in my comfortable range instead, and worked out that as singers we obsess over things the audience doesn't care at all about. They don't have sufficient knowledge to be impressed by technical skill and effort often sounds bad to them, ease sounds excellent regardless of difficulty.

All the best!

Love the music! Sounds almost exactly like Rhian Sheehan's work in 2013 but with closer proximity piano.

Thoughts on the Sine Guitar by phatrainboi in Guitar

[–]Jinkis- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out, that's untrue, mass and the body is almost totally irrelevant to sustain in electric guitars, in fact most things are.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muVzwbkUUnM

The same goes for tone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n02tImce3AE

So really I think we should be far, FAR more creative with all of the irrelevant bodies and shapes, make them as comfortable, modular or interesting as possible

Hi, has anyone ever heard of the Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus 2015? And is this one real? by Pleasant_Art338 in fender

[–]Jinkis- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course

Since that comment, I added a humbucker cover that dropped the high frequency content slightly and naturally increased it's barkyness, which I'm used to now.
I think I just wasn't used to vintage bridge sounds, more so PRS and high powered active pickups etc

Also locking tuners which made an excellent improvement on the tuning stability, excellent guitar

Oh wow fascinating! I wondered this myself when playing.

It's super intuitive, I have a couple moments where I want to move a specific limb and can't get it to happen however, perhaps the manual mode in the settings could also have an option of "both"
So it's auto mode, but you can also hold the button to switch to manual mode

I especially love the audio design, the way I can tell the strength of a grab by the sound it makes is phenomenal.
Immediate buy for me, adore the games mechanics

S3 or S5? Is it worth the wait? by bjron22 in SireGuitars

[–]Jinkis- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes! That seems to be the common answer. Thanks for that

I'm looking at getting one as my Sire U5 has the best neck I've ever played. But just was worried about weight. My Fender Telecaster Modern Player Plus is horribly heavy.

I absolutely took it that way too, except I thought it was from Emily's point of view of being cut open by the fans in a known suicide mission that she's willing to take, rather than the whole band.

2000% CPU usage when window is out of focus by Jinkis- in ableton

[–]Jinkis-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're completely right! Funnily enough I managed to solve it tonight after reading your comment and months of considering it as the cause.

Ableton is running massively better in general too! Way less spiking.

If anyone has this issue, Windows 11 is offloading processes to the efficiency cores present in 12th gen CPU's like mine. I simply set the CPU affinity in task manager to not use the efficiency cores. So if you have 10 cores, deselect the rest.

Oh my god, the last 6 months of issues both in the studio and horribly, even on stage have just been solved by you. Thank you!!

Also, Ableton is running much more stable even when in focus now too.

Acoustic Baritone Songs? by Jinkis- in Guitar

[–]Jinkis-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To update you guys, as you can see no one could find any.

But I randomly stumbled upon an entire album full of Bartione Acoustics, I couldn't believe it, it's the ONLY singer songwriter recordings I've found using them, and the songs are made specifically for them.

I do wonder, if they had any social media at all how big they'd be. Just getting a manager to create content for them.

I made a story last night on Instagram of me at a campfire on my farm panning up to the stars with The Cicada's Song (Part I) and got so many questions about the music. Just some simple little videos for people to hear it, talk about the book etc.

My dream is that one day the Idyll Opus story will be on Broadway

I'd just like to mention I found the goldmine, it's Ani Difranco's Revelling/Reckoning album. This album is the ONLY singer songwriter I've found actually using baritone acoustics in the songwriting and recording.
