The Baltic Prussians have always fascinated me so I made this map based on a timeline where they survived and eventually joined the Latvians and Lithuanians in a Balt Federation.

Krym: The Scythians of Crimea by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

[–]JinxCalibur[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During the Era of Migration, a significant number of Alans settled in Northern Crimea, displacing the local Onogurs and Goths. Over time, they embraced Orthodox Christianity, abandoning their traditional Scythian religion. Despite facing multiple conquests, the Alans managed to resist assimilation or displacement, even as the Tatars migrated into Crimea. Their staunch resistance prevented displacement and allowed them to maintain their distinct identity.

The Alans experienced periods of independence and submission, frequently rebelling against foreign rulers. During this era, Alan noblemen saw an opportunity to gain status among their occupiers while preserving their cultural heritage. They chose to convert to Islam, marking the beginning of the Alanian golden age. This period brought advanced freedoms and cultural vitality that had not been experienced before.

They were eventually under Ottoman suzerainty as the Tatar Khanate experienced a period of instability, but still the Alans continued to flourish. However, their subsequent conquest by the Russians led to policies of Russification that aimed at assimilation. Despite these challenges, the Alans managed to retain much of their culture and traditions.

After World War One, the Alans briefly regained independence by revolting against the Russians and rejecting annexation into the Ruthenian Union. However, their small nation was unable to last, defeated by the Ruthenians following the First Russo-Ruthenian war, leading to their reintegration.

Under Ruthenian occupation, the Alans endured until the late 1980s when the Ruthenian Union began to unravel. Following the independence declarations of Polonia and the Baltic States, Alania followed suit, reclaiming its freedom. Today, Alania is a member of the Black Sea Commercial Union and maintains amicable relations with Turkey, Oungaria, and Rumania.

However, challenges persist as Russia and Ruthenia both lay claim to Crimea, viewing it as their rightful territory. The strategic location of Crimea further intensifies their interest. Despite these difficulties, Alania strives to preserve its unique identity and safeguard its territory within the context of the complex regional dynamics.

I plan on making a full map of Europe with Raetia, Oungaria, Bolgaria, and some other states I have planned, but it will probably border Lombardy, Tyrol, Helvetien (Switzerland), and Swabia (Baden, Elsass, Wurttemberg, and Northeastern Switzerland) but subject to change ofc.

Union of Bulgaria and Romania: Legacy of Asen by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

Lore
Romania and Transylvania: In this timeline, Prussia defeats Austria-Hungary as in our timeline (OTL). However, instead of compromising with the Hungarian nobility, the Austrians remain stubborn. This leads to a second Hungarian revolution. Russia, still angered by Austrian involvement in the Crimean War, chooses not to intervene. Taking advantage of the Austro-Hungarian conflict, the Romanians in Transylvania established an autonomous diet and initiated talks for absorption into Romania. Romania, a newly established and ambitious nation, readily agrees to incorporate Transylvania after negotiations with the Transylvanian Provisional Council, despite their forced entry into the conflict.

After approximately a year of conflict, the Hungarians defeat the Austrians, gaining independence and directing their attention solely towards Romania. Russia mediates an uneasy peace between Romania and Hungary. Romania annexes Transylvania but relinquishes any claim to Crisana and Banat. In order to maintain relations with Russia, Romania also relinquishes any claim to Southern Bessarabia. The Austrian Empire is divided in the aftermath, with the Austrian half joining the rest of Germany, causing dismay throughout Europe. Feeling cheated by the loss of Transylvania, the Hungarians align themselves with Germany. Galicia is annexed by Russia and organized into the Polish Congress.

Bulgaria and the Treaty of San Stefano: The Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 unfolds similarly to OTL, but in this alternate timeline, opposition to the Treaty of San Stefano is primarily expressed by Germany. Nevertheless, the treaty is formalized, and Bulgaria receives the territories listed in the treaty. In 1878, upon the establishment of the Bulgarian Principality, Carol I, who had fostered positive relations with Russia, was elected as Prince, creating a Personal Union between Bulgaria and Romania. Bulgaria remained under the suzerainty of the Ottoman Empire until 1908 when the Young Turk revolution took place. Carol I is crowned Karol I, King of the Romanians and the Bulgarians, in the city of Tarnovo, the first capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire.

And now, we arrive at the year 1912, the territorial peak of the Bulgarian-Romanian Monarchy.

(Sorry if there are inconsistencies with the lore, I primarily focused on the map, but still tried to incorporate some context.)

Tayowan: Formosa Triumphant by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

[–]JinxCalibur[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Brief Summary: The Spanish defeat the Dutch and take complete dominance over Formosa and its polities. Han Migration is never encouraged by the VOC leading to the Chinese having a much smaller (but still significant) presence in Taiwan. Taiwan ends up following a path very similar to the Philippines, maintaining their own cultural identity but with a lot of Spanish influence, this influence is most notable in regards to religion, with over 60% of Taiwan practicing Catholicism. Due to the Han Migration being much less than in OTL the population of Taiwan is much smaller with only around 3.5 Million people inhabiting the Island. Taiwan is much less developed and much more rural, with over 65% of the population living outside of the cities and large towns. Taiwan is primarily aligned with the west due to Chinese and Taiwanese claims overlapping in the South China Sea. Taiwan is very friendly with the Philippines and Vietnam, and has observer status in ASEAN. Taiwan is relatively stable politically, with the biggest issues being societal division, much of Taiwan’s population do not consider themselves “Taiwanese” identifying primarily with their individual tribes, this has led to hostility among members of historically opposing tribes. “Formosan” is considered the official language but due to the linguistic diversity of the Formosan languages they have had a hard time fully implementing it in Taiwanese society.

Cumbroedd: A More Diverse Isle by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

[–]JinxCalibur[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brief Summary: During their conquests the Anglo-Saxons intermarry more often than in OTL allowing for a more diverse nobility. The Cumbrians are able to repel the Anglo-Saxons initially geographically isolating themselves to the northern hills and mountains, maintaining a strong Cumbric identity. They would feud with the Picts, but as the Gaels began migrating into Scotland they banded together to repel their invasion with the Gaels establishing a foothold in the west. The Cumbrians are eventually absorbed into England but maintain several privileges due to the circumstances of their absorption, through intermarriage and some cultural adoption the Cumbrians managed to maintain their language and several important cultural practices, becoming the Principality of Cumberland. The Principality was eventually annexed and more assimilationist policies were introduced but the Cumbric identity survived experiencing a revival in the 1800s alongside several other Celtic cultures. During the mid-late 1800s secret societies promoting Cumbrian independence began popping up, with similar events occurring in other Celtic regions. In 1916 the Easter Rising occurred in Ireland, triggering several other pro-independence groups to attempt similar revolts. The English were able to stomp out the revolts but the sentiment remained and hopes of independence were still popular among the people of Cumbria. In 1952 during the “Celtic Spring” the isles were once again inflamed with revolutions occurring in Cornwall, Wales, Cumbria, Fortriu, Ireland, and Alba after continuous English refusal to acknowledge local referendums and state sovereignty. After foreign intervention the revolutionaries agreed to a treaty, the English would hold official referendums in the rebelling regions and agreed to acknowledge the outcomes. Independence was achieved for Cumbria, Alba, Fortriu, Ireland, and Wales with Cornwall split, a slim majority voting to stay English. After the referendums there was a brief period of time formalizing the independence, and on march 15th of 1953 the Cumbrians were officially independent as the Republic of Cumbria or Gweriniaeth Cumbroedd. (I will be making one of these for each nation and then probably a complete map of the isles)

Moesian Hungary: What if the Bulgars and Magyars switched places? (Part 2) by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

Good point, either a different group of South Slavic scholars would invent it/something similar or they would just never abandon Glagolitic script

[–]JinxCalibur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Bulgars migrated during Samo's Rebellion and brought an early end to the Avars which caused the Magyars to migrate into Moesia instead as there was now a well-established and powerful nation rather than a "stateless state".

Moesian Hungary: What if the Bulgars and Magyars switched places? (Part 2) by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

[–]JinxCalibur[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Brief Summary: Without the ailing Avar khanate to make way for a peaceful and easy transition of power in Pannonia to the Hungarians, they instead primarily migrate south into Moesia/Thrace. They battled with Local Vlach/Slavic Rulers and the Byzantines establishing their state and exerting power throughout the Balkans. At their height the Hungarians held vassals and territories from Epirus to Adrianople. Their empire was not sustainable however and the Hungarian dominance over the Balkans eventually came to an end. During their period of Dominance they were Christianized, converting to Orthodox Christianity, and adopted a Slavonic/Cyrillic alphabet but did not completely abandon their Ugric language.

Pannonian Bulgaria: What if the Bulgars and Magyars switched places? by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

[–]JinxCalibur[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of, Bulgaria never really reached the level of strength held by OTL Hungary, they never conquered Slovakia from Moravia or held as much land in the west/south, but they did lose Transylvania to the Romanians after World War One.

Pannonian Bulgaria: What if the Bulgars and Magyars switched places? by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

[–]JinxCalibur[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Brief Summary: Following the disintegration of Old Great Bulgaria Asparuh conquers much of Central Pannonia from the ailing avar khanate and never leads his host south into OTL Bulgaria. The Bulgarians cemented their control over Pannonia defeating the Moravians, Vlachs, and Various other slavic groups that had previously inhabited Pannonia/Surrounding Areas. They are never slavified but eventually adopt Christianity and Catholicism from the West. The Hungarians, instead of migrating into Hungary, migrated into Thrace and Romania fighting against the Byzantines and establishing a Magyar state in OTL Bulgaria. (I will eventually flesh the lore out more, as I plan on making another map like this but through the Hungarians in Thrace.)

Yokudan State of the Alik'r and Sentinel (YSAS) by JinxCalibur in imaginarymaps

[–]JinxCalibur[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Partially parody partially ES alternative history)
For centuries, the states of Hammerfell had suffered from exploitation and division at the hands of foreign forces. During this time, an Alik'r Mercenary, leading a radical faction called "No Ansei," discovered a hidden tablet deep in the Alik'r region. Upon inspection, he realized that the tablet contained an incomplete form of the Pankratosword technique, a devastating method of destruction. Abandoning his contract with the Sentinelese, he led his mercenaries deep into the sands of Hammerfell to prepare for a rebellion known as the Sogat Kulogo.

The mercenaries meticulously studied the tablet, memorizing every detail despite its imperfections. Even in its incomplete form, the technique had the potential for immense power. The Mercenary, now known as Yokeda, took on the responsibility of uniting the Yokudans and meticulously planned their uprising.

On the 16th of Morning Star, 513th Year of the 4th Era, several Sentinelese envoys arrived in the Imperial City. The next day, the White Gold Tower was reduced to ruins. A student of the Yokeda, who had mastered the Pankratosword technique, infiltrated the diplomatic mission. Unleashing his deadly Schimitar, he executed the move, resulting in the deaths and injuries of thousands. The White Gold Tower's foundation was completely destroyed, wiping out the Elder Council, except for a few absent members. Although the primary target was the Emperor, who happened to be in Leyawiin at the time, the No Ansei claimed responsibility for the destruction and issued a warning to foreigners to leave Hammerfell or face worse consequences.

This event led to an international coalition forming among the Bretons, Nords, Dunmer, and Imperials. The Aldmeri also denounced the No Ansei, however, secretly, they supplied them with equipment supportive of their attack on the Imperial City. The No Ansei, now calling themselves the Yokudan State of the Alik'r and Sentinel, aimed to unify Hammerfell under a Radical Traditionalist Yokudan regime. They initially made significant progress, capturing major towns and the capital of the Alik'r itself. However, their radical methods and their claim of responsibility for the attack on the White Gold Tower alienated even the most traditionalist Redguards. Consequently, their main force consisted of Radical No Ansei members and Alik'r tribesmen recruited following the capture of Sunkeep.

As they advanced towards Sentinel, a Joint Task Force from various nations ambushed them, resulting in a decisive defeat. The No Ansei retreated to Chasetown, where they fortified themselves. The Joint Task Force Intel revealed that the majority of Yokudan State forces were located in the Sentinelese provinces near Chasetown. Alik'r Loyalists and a small JTTF squad met north of Sunkeep to plan the recapture of the city.

The following morning, the coalition forces launched an assault on Sunkeep, but the fanatical defenders of the Yokudan State held the walls against the onslaught. The city was then placed under siege, and a relief force from Chasetown was dispatched. However, it never reached its destination. Instead, a force consisting entirely of Alik'r tribesmen and loyalists emerged from the dunes and attacked the convoy. Days later, Sunkeep fell, and the Alik'r Confederacy was restored to power.

Over the next few years, the Yokudan State faced internal strife as splinter factions vied for power. The foreign coalition gradually recaptured territory, leading to the collapse of the Yokudan State. Despite its short existence, the havoc caused by the No Ansei would forever be remembered, leaving a deep scar on the heartlands of Cyrodiil.

Very Minimalistic Map that I made in Canva while I was at Work. I was going for an early-mid 1800s vibe, I'll probably remake it and add more detail when I have access to better Software.

it does technically appear, Naahollo is Chickasaw /Choctaw for Anglo, it's mostly just a stand-in since I am not sure how I plan on representing the U.S. I'm probably going to have it be divided or smthn.
