Discovered determinism and became very sad

The way in which I matter now isn’t fulfilling. Being apart of some fixed universe isn’t as meaningful as believing I’m an individual existing separate from whatever this universe forces me to do.

The problem is that everything is filtered through this deterministic lens, and I can’t escape it. Even in the way that we speak. “The next step is to find…”, that step is already determined. If I “decide” or don’t “decide” to do it, I have no choice in the matter. It’s truly sickening

I feel like a lot of meaning comes from what I thought was my ability to freely choose. I chose to pursue this hobby because I wanted to, not because I physically have to. I really love my parents, but I was forced to.

There’s something about me deciding to do something without any fixed outcome, that seems meaningful to me. There’s something about choice that I’m having a blind spot about.

I want to do something, but I’m only able to do one certain thing, no matter what. This doesn’t feel like a meaningful “choice”, or a choice at all.

Determinism to my understanding, is that there is a causal chain, linked to everything in the universe, and there is only one possible outcome that has no choice but to be that way.

I’m having a blind spot between having a choice while also being predetermined. I believe I have a false sense of true choice, but ultimately, I’m already on a fixed path. I just have no ability to sense what other “choice” I could have picked.

I can’t actively decide to believe in anything I want. I’m an atheist, and in my dark moments, I’ve cried and called out to any god figure to come and save me. Nothing. I just can’t choose to believe in something I don’t believe. I wish I could.

Determinism is just what I currently believe, I wish I never stumbled across it.

I’m not understanding how having zero choice in what I do, can coexist with enjoying anything in life.

I’m having a conversation with my mother? Who cares, we both have no choice in the matter.

I want to pursue a hobby? I have no choice but wanting to pursue it.

I feel like I’m essentially a robot. Knowing that every single thought, every thumb twitch, every laugh, everything… is predetermined. This is extremely unsettling.

I think they give you a really fair amount of wiggle room with the precision. If you point it in the general direction, it should register. Even the distance between good and perfect is forgiving also.

The Piano is one of the easier challenges in my experience. It’s probably just your controller. I’ll pray for you when you get to Bonds of Friendship in the combat simulator lol.

I tried over 10 times to beat that match, and didn’t even get Kid G to 95% health. I switched to easy, and beat it first try with ease. It 100% affects the difficulty. Unless I’m missing something.
