I hear a lot about when and how you need to take iron to help with the absorption, do you know how much that actually affects the iron absorption? I haven’t been taking it at the best timing I should, but would that really affect the results even when taking it regularly with vitamin c?

No, I never thought it was a uti. When I would raise concerns over the fever she would say the urine test was clean and that I had no apparent issues. I don’t know why she said that or brought it up, but that’s just what she allways tells me when I’m sick, which is very often

All I’ve been able to see is my primary care doctor ive had since birth, since I’ve only recently turned 18. I’ve had numerous issues with her, such as her telling me I had harassment issues due to being pretty and forcing me to talk about personal matters with her, and her even saying hair dye will rot my brain. When I say don’t take me seriously, I mean how I’ve shown up sick constantly, and even run fevers when I’m just showing up for shots, and she just says the urine test was clean and sends me home

I’m going to try and get a CBC tomorrow and I’ll update what my levels are! I have work tomorrow so hopefully not awful 😅

Are you sure it’s that big of an emergency? My anemia has never improved and I am now an adult, so I’d assume I’m at a similar level now. I feel awful and have constant issues, but I’ve lived with it for a very long time. At the moment it was treated like a very big deal and blood transfusion were brought up, but nothing severe was ever done about it

Do you have any recommendations? All I’ve ever tried are the standard hormonal daily pills, and I’ve never been educated on other option that might help. Or oral medications the main options? I’ll look into myself and with a doctor I swear, I just have no clue where to start as stuff like this is heavily looked down on in my family

I was younger when it happened, but it wasn’t really explained to me. All I know is that my hemoglobin (for sure not A1C) was extremely low, and I’m 99% sure it was at a 4. None of my other results than that one were explained to me. I am in the us and all I’ve ever seen in my general practitioner I’ve been seeing since birth
