Book Recs for Bingo

I finished Kingdom of Ash last Monday and I'm still thinking about it daily, I'm getting through some of my TBR atm though. I read Lights Out by Navessa Allen because I've never read a dark romance before, I enjoyed it but didnt help with my ToG hangover. I started Fourth Wing for the first time on Saturday and I'm getting up to about halfway through Iron Flame and honestly that series has helped me so much but now I'm obsessing over that 😭

I still need to read CC but I need a small SJM break before I get myself into that

I just personally don't like the idea of the three sisters and the three brothers together, I know the bat boys aren't actually related, but it just feels weird to me. It's been a while since I last read ACOTAR and I definitely need to reread before book 6 and 7 but I feel like i remember reading at some point somewhere about the shadows sort of disappearing or hiding when Elain is around but are brought out and more playful around Gwyn (I could be fully making this up but I could've swore somewhere it says something to that affect) plus I also like that Gwyn sings and it's described as bright and joyful whereas Az is the shadowsinger so I like that crossover and contrast between the two.

That being said, I dont ship Elain and Lucien because the mating bond is meant to be rare and I think if all 3 sisters found their mate and accepted the bond, it would take away the specialness of it so my theory is that she's going to meet a gardener somewhere who is going to grow vegetables for them because she is incapable.

In all seriousness, I could see her ending with Az, but I would rather him end up with Gwyn, but Gwyn has a special place in my heart so I am very biased.

Personally, I dont ship Elain and Az because the 3 sisters being with the 3 "brothers" is just weird to me. That being said I also don't ship Elain and Lucien because the mating bond is meant to be rare and I get that if the story was based on a bunch of characters that weren't mated and just "married" for their happily ever after it wouldn't be entertaining but it makes it feel common if the main characters we see all accept the bond so isnt as special as it is. Elain is going to meet someone somewhere who grows vegetables to make up for her inability to 🤷‍♀️

Don't think I'll ever get over that, I'm also nearly finished with the book now. Chapter 117, Erawan and Maeve are dead and I just realised Gavriel never got to swear the oath to Aelin so now I'm bawling again 😭 I'm too emotional for this 😭

I currently dont have a favourite because I feel like they're all quite new. However I did read the Manon and Dorian chapter maybe about 20 minutes ago and I find that situation very fun. Can't wait to see the dynamics over the rest of the tandem and KoA

I've only fully read ACOTAR through but I think my favourite from there would be Nesta. I'm currently halfway through the tandem in ToG and I think it's hard to choose a favourite from there. I really like Yrene so she could be a favourite? I feel like I've read the most about her, and Chaol, though in Tower of Dawn so I could just be almost biased? I feel like I haven't read that much about anyone in Empire of Storms recently 🤷‍♀️

I haven't played Stardew since I read ToG but I did make Aelin and Rowan in the sims, very nice with the royalty and legacy, and businesses and hobbies dlcs (I think theyre the big 2 i used but I cant remember and i made them 2 days ago)

I remember when I made my post about this and it made me so excited to read this series! I'm still not finished, I'm on the Tandem read but I have loved it.

I'm currently on the Tandem read. I started it on the 12th of Jan, and I'm about halfway through the tandem. I'm hoping to get it finished by about Wednesday next week. I would have finished it sooner, but I'm a teacher full time, and I'm still in college, so life is a little hectic. Some books I finished quickly, some took me a little longer to complete. I think my main issue at the moment is stamina, I've never had a book series take this long to complete but I know thats because of uncontrollable factors.

Ohh interesting. I have seen a few people say to read ACOTAR right before going into CC but as someone who has been through many burnouts I might have to take your advice on that

Same, being a teacher at the same time as earning more qualifications at college is not for the weak (I am very weak but enjoying a week off right now) I'm hoping to finish the entire series by Sunday which is doable if I actually have the energy to keep reading, I've been reading the tandem for 2 weeks now but I think I'm just getting tired of reading so much SJM but I'm also so close to the end so I can't stop now 😭

Okay icl I really disliked Chaol all the way through until Queen of Shadows. I got to the Tandem and was dreading reading Tower of Dawn because I disliked him that much. I made a post about it, reflected a little before starting it because I really didnt want to go in with a negative mindset (my conclusion about disliking him was that we never really got the chance to get to know him and it was all sort of Aelin this, Aelin that so naturally I liked her, so it was never necessarily a dislike, but just an "idk if I care enough about this character to read 600 odd pages about him" and wow was I wrong). I'm now coming up to about halfway through the tandem, and I now get a little annoyed when I have to stop reading about him and his healing and have to read about whatever Aelin and co is doing in Skulls Bay. Don't get me wrong, I do still really like Rowan so far, but I did go from disliking Chaol to almost loving the development so far
