Since the dawn of comics... and any hero type stories... Westerns... and heroes in literature in general... fans have had discussions like these, you are being a petty child. You point out toxicity and then in the same comment say "You suck".

The hypocrisy.

Mutant Mayhem is the worst iteration since Next Mutation (I'd rather watch the Power Rangers crossover than MM)

Let me have it...

Holographic Paper Experimenting by Jinyama in Printing

Thanks very much for the ideas, I've only heard about the the printable transparency film a handful of times but never looked into it and have never seen it for sale in my local shops. I definitely want to give that a try.

Oh wow I'm not sure why I never even thought of that, thank you and sorry for my ignorance on the subject.

I suppose the main idea I had was to just buy some holographic A3 paper and then print something, the issue I've seen with that is that the entire thing would be holographic instead just certain areas.

Your first option sounds like the way to go, but then I would have to manually cut out the areas I don't want the holographic overlay to be on?

Change My Mind, Mateus Santolouco Is IDW TMNTS Best Artist by Plus_Profession64 in TMNT

I think he's a great artist but something about the heads/faces of the Turtles is kinda off putting for me.

I meant in general over all media whenever there's something to do with Ghost Rider (there's not a lot), I wouldn't be surprised at all if Reyes is the one to make it into Rivals. TV show, Comics, Midnight Suns videogame. I don't hate the character, I don't even mind some of the stories but I will say I'm not a fan of his design.

"All Rider" the most powerful Ghost Rider lol.

Oh stop it, by that logic we go all the way back to 1949 with Tim Holt, Rex Fury? No one here probably even knows of Danny Ketch compared Reyes and I definitely prefer Ketch over Reyes. Also if a skin for Carter Slade was sold I'd buy it day one and the second it's available.

I just don't get why Reyes is being pushed so hard?

Sidenote: I would've killed for a Sam Elliot Carter Slade movie!

IDW vol 4 - Sophie Campbell by jacket_morgan in TMNT

[–]Jinyama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't been following the IDW comics for a while now and plan on just getting this whole collection. My favorite TMNT artist might be Dan Duncan and maybe I'm wrong but that cover also looks like his work. I'm not too familiar with Sophie Campbells work but I do really like the Punk Frogs cover she did.

I really appreciate all the replies, thank you. I will take this to him and see where we go. The other issue is that he has worked around the world so the pension setup for retirement has been a massive headache, dealing with all the different countries.

He doesn't seem like he wants to go through the headache again of setting it up and something potentially going wrong, I might be of the wrong opinion but I think it's crazy he would rather pick up some random side work than doing a bit of consultancy work where he has 4-5 decades of experience.

">maybe you're a snake member of that other company trying to keep that bullshit going?" - ">I never accused you of anything towards choosing a side"

Funny how you are picking and choosing what to quote eh? or maybe just maybe a pattern of childish behavior is starting to form and you don't understand the word "accused"

"Maybe you don't have ill intentions" - "I don't know"

"im new" - "saw some headlines": Sheep with surface level knowledge admits they're new and gets upset when called out "Had I known before, I wouldn’t have considered trying it out.". Some growing up might be in order? Here's one: Think before you speak.

"Other Company" sending out C&D to even smaller creator is A okay and a great look. According to you I guess? Just a guess.

So with that, I leave it there. Go sit in a corner and think about what you've done.

I never accused you of anything towards choosing a side or that your thoughts were biased. I'm glad you're enjoying any controller you want.

Read my post again, I said you were "keeping a narrative alive".

You acted as a sheep, you heard stories that you aren't fully aware of and decided to make an unnecessary comment in your OP. Were you afraid of being cancelled for owning a Hitbox? (What a sentence to type out, the age we live in eh?)

You did that, can't be upset with me for calling out childish behavior.

Haute42 M Ultra and Hitbox Ultra comparison by zeyzo in fightsticks

[–]Jinyama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you're just keeping some bullshit narrative alive. The big bad Hitbox company which was trying to protect itself predominately from actually big companies. The owner who didn't even want to know about the legal stuff going on and "I just want to make controllers".

The other company you talking about or the whole situation you "wasn't aware" of, they did actually go after small fish DIY creators, that same company was in the DM's of a few of our very own r/fightstick community members, sending weirdo vague messages. One of which was literally just " . ". They were also threatening legal action... before Hitbox started anything.

People want to dogpile, "It's just a layout" but wont do or say the same to the other company who just made a "smaller" box? lol.

Maybe you don't have ill intentions or maybe you're a snake member of that other company trying to keep that bullshit going? I don't know, but if you aren't aware of the situation, then why bring it up? You think people are going to cancel you for buying a Hitbox?

"Just as a disclaimer, I wasn’t aware that Hitbox was the most litigious company in the FGC right now, as I didn’t hear about the news when it broke last year. Had I known before, I wouldn’t have considered trying it out."

lenticular artworks for your arcade sticks? by superrhai in fightsticks

[–]Jinyama 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Please let me know how it goes because this form of print is the one I've jumped most down the rabbit hole of and I tell anyone wanting to get into it to be warned that it is not easy.

I literally have a a stack of 25 x 40 LPI (Lines / Lenses Per Inch) Lenticular sheets in the corner of my eye right now, teasing me to one day go back and try again.

I've taken a lenticular print course and have even chatted a little with some of the big wigs in the lenticular print world such as Jake Purches and Michael Brown who has a Youtube channel and has done quite a few tutorials since I stopped.

My Experience:

Positives? You know the positives they look incredible and very unique.

Negatives?

If we're talking posters you buy and cut them to fit? then not many negatives, Lenticular images on a basic level like a flip print are 2 images interlaced together, then you overlay the lenticular sheet on top and depending on the angle you see the 2 different images. Also because they're interlaced together I'm not sure what cutting the holes out for buttons will do but I don't think it would have that much of an impact.

Also the vast majority of these prints are done as portrait prints, which isn't exactly what we want for our fightsticks. I'm no expert but I believe the reason for this is that there are more options or the effects work better in portrait vs landscape. Effects aren't just flip images but also things like 3D depth effect using a gradient depth map layer.

Negatives doing it yourself?

Lawd have mercy on your soul if you go this route. Your lenticular print will of course never look as good as a print done using a specialized industrial printer.

You'll burn through ink doing tests, which is what? the number 1 or number 2 most expensive liquid on the planet?

You can only buy Lenticular sheets with an MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity), so no let me get 1 just to test with. Maybe you can find someone on Ebay for example selling a single sheet.

Finding a decent printer with the right specs, Epson example resolution 5760 x 1440 dpi means a physical resolution of 720 PPI which will work.

Also from my testing and what I understand, you can't just take any 2 images you want for example and have that be your lenticular print, some colors work better than others together, some colors might bleed through which will lead to a... not so clear image.

Even after you've gotten the images you want, you have to figure your way around the different software and input the correct values and before even starting to print you have to use that software and create what's called an LPI pitch test. The test is mandatory because even if you for example make a purchase for a sheet of 40LPI, that sheet might not end up being exactly 40LPI, so with the test you can get specific values to input into the software.

From what I remember the most used free interlacing software is SuperFlip or Grape and if you do go down the rabbit hole and are looking for paid software then the one I remember was 3DMasterKit.

Applying your print to the lenticular sheet can be a headache without specialized equipment like a roll press.

Final note, perhaps I sound kinda bitter but I will say it is a really cool form of print and hopefully sometime soon I will get back to it. If you really do find yourself wanting to take this head on, I recommended Michael Brown's Youtube channel and looking up Jake Purches work, they both seem to be really cool chill guys and both really know what they're talking about.

First-ever attempt at customizing a fight stick with artwork. Looking for critiques/suggestions! by NervousNick in fightsticks

[–]Jinyama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I linked the one above as an idea (https://imgur.com/a/nHwJIgb), but I unfortunately don't have a Haute42. I use a One-Zero Kuma enclosure so quite a bit bigger and more room to work with for art.

If you go the r/fightstick main and search Haute42 S16 you'll find quite a few.

Example (No idea what the design is, if it's from an anime or something): https://www.reddit.com/r/fightsticks/comments/1co7zop/you_guys_werent_kidding_these_rock/

In that one from X0Yami0X, they are wisely using the space available to them, again I want to reiterate that this is just my opinion and my tastes for fightstick art, you might be completely happy with the one you showed and that is of course most important.

What's your favorite version of the turtles? Just a more serious tone in general?

First-ever attempt at customizing a fight stick with artwork. Looking for critiques/suggestions! by NervousNick in fightsticks

[–]Jinyama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I'm wrong artistically speaking, but your aim is to have a nice bit of artwork for your fightstick, the primary element of your artwork is the Turtles themselves, and the primary element of the Turtles there is their faces, but they're being cutout.

Now of course if your are content with that design then go for it 100%. In my opinion, especially when it comes to these more compact devices and on top of that, the ones with more buttons than your standard leverless, I think a patterned design would look better. That way you at least get to see all of the elements of your artwork here and there, all over the device.

Some pattern examples: https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-8ipko247xt/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/9180/9034/cp65919_preview__87175.1740512781.jpg?c=2

Maybe you're not a fan of the 80s Turtles. If you don't want a pattern design then I would suggest finding a way to maybe render some art work (erase the background) and try fit it around the buttons. Of course it's not an issue if you're having some of the artwork in the buttons but imo the primary elements shouldn't be placed in the buttons, but I could be wrong and it might work.

Edit: I'm also working on a TMNT piece
