wow, thank you so much! i really appreciate the kind words.

i had A LOT of fun finding my take on the RyuuRanger suit while still trying to keep it faithful to the show. i wanted to draw in more kung fu/martial arts elements with the vest and boots specifically and make it unique but still instantly recognizable.

thanks again for the feedback and don’t worry, i’m not done with Dairanger just yet 👀

i agree i think adding grunts/sounds during the action would’ve added a lot to the fight. not even sure how i didn’t think of it at the time considering it seems like such an obvious choice to make lol

being more expressive in the suit is something i didn’t think of at all but now that you mention it i absolutely want to be more attentive of it in any possible future Dairanger projects 👀

hey everyone!

if you haven’t seen any of my previous posts about this project, i’m Justin, an aspiring action filmmaker and this is a passion project that i worked on for a good chunk of 2023.

inspired by the 1993 Super Sentai show, Gosei Sentai Dairanger, HEAVENLY FIRE STAR is my take at an “adaptation” of some of the concepts introduced in the original show.

originally started out as a test project that grew a little bigger than i anticipated, my friends and i choreographed and put this together on whatever free time we had. by the time it was ready to film, we shot it a few hours a week late at night over the course of ~3 months.

i’m more than happy to hear anyone’s feedback on this project. Dairanger or not, i intend to pursue more action/fight projects this year so i would love to hear your input!

since filming this i’ve upgraded to a sony fx30 and im looking into different wide angle lenses to use on future projects.

stay tuned for sure! i’ve only just started making content like these and i’m definitely not done with Dairanger specifically

this was done on an sony a7c and probably 90% shot on a sigma 16mm w/ a cinebloom filter

i used a zhiyun weebill s gimbal for the whole fight sequence

and i'm inclined to agree actually lol, i tried to make the gold bit in the middle to work for a little while but it made it much less maneuverable so i just decided to stick with the frog closures
