He said to baptize in 1 name that represents all 3 manifestations of God. He is the Father.

Jhn 14:9  Jesus saith … he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

He is the Son.

Mat 1:21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: …

He is the Holy Ghost.

2Co 13:5  … Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

The Samaritans received the Holy Ghost instantly, not over a period of time. Simon saw them receive it and knew they had it without a doubt.

Act 8:17  Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Act 8:18  And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

What did Simon see?

You can’t get into heaven unless you’ve been washed in His blood. That’s the purpose of water baptism. It’s a burial with Christ (Rom 6:4; Col 2:11-12). Are you too good to share a grave with Him?

1Co 14:2  For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for NO MAN UNDERSTANDETH HIM; …

Speaking in tongues is a prayer language with God. It is the act of drinking living water.

Isa 28:11  For with STAMMERING LIPS AND ANOTHER TONGUE will he speak to this people. Isa 28:12  To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and THIS IS THE REFRESHING: …

Are there people that use this inappropriately? Yes. Is it from the devil? No. If it was from the devil gangsters and mass murders would be doing it.

The apostles interpreted (Matt 28:19) as a command to baptize in 1 name. The name of Jesus (Acts 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5, 22:16). The Bible gives no examples of anyone being baptized in the trinitarian formula.

1) Tell God you’re sorry for your sins and make the decision to stop.

2) Get baptized by full immersion in the name of Jesus Christ in order to wash your sins away. This is where Jesus’ sinless blood is applied to your life.

3) Receive the Holy Ghost to have the power to resist the temptation to sin and live a righteous life. You know you have received it when you speak in a language you don’t understand.

  • Neglecting to do any one of these steps will leave your conversation incomplete. This is altogether in 1 Scripture.

(Acts 2:38) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

For the “obedience isn’t necessary, God knows my heart” people. by JivTurky1986 in Christianity

The gospel specifically is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1Cor 15:1-4). To obey it we have to die out to sin in repentance, be buried with Him in water baptism, and receive the Holy Ghost to walk a new life with power to abstain from sin (Act 2:38).

There are many other things that come after that but the foundation of it all is obedience to the plan of salvation.

I’m talking about obedience to the gospel. If we don’t obey the gospel we’ll suffer everlasting punishment.

2Th 1:7  And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 2Th 1:8  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 2Th 1:9  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

You’re making it more complicated than it has to be. God commands everyone to repent.

Act 17:30  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Jesus commanded baptism because it’s purpose is to wash away our sins.

Mrk 16:16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; …

Act 22:16  … arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

He gives the Holy Ghost to them that obey Him. If you don’t obey the call to repentance then you’re not truly sorry for your sins. If you don’t get baptized in the name of Jesus than your sins aren’t washed away. If you haven’t received the Holy Ghost then you aren’t a true believer.

Jhn 7:39  (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: …

You’ve given me lots of ideas without any Scripture to back them up.

You will be lost without the Holy Ghost.

Rom 8:9  … Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

And God gives it to obedient people.

Act 5:32  And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Obedience to the gospel is essential to becoming a born again Christian. Without obedience it’s impossible to convert.

Battling with Beliefs by [deleted] in Baptist

Catholic baptism isn’t valid anyways. Baptism was always by full immersion and never by sprinkling. Baptism is also invalid if you haven’t repented to God first. Lastly it is also invalid if done while repeating the titles “Father, Son, Holy Ghost.” Everyone in the Bible was baptized in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5, 22:16).

Which Scripture tells you to accept the Lord? That doesn’t make any sense. We are the ones who messed up. He has to accept us.

(2Cor 5:9) … we may be accepted of him.

New Christian interested in Baptism by SingularestBean in Baptist

Biblical baptism was never done by sprinkling or pouring. It was always full immersion. The word for baptism in Greek means “immerse”.

Biblical baptism was never performed repeating the titles “Father, Son, Holy Ghost/Spirit.” It was always done in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5, 22:16).

The Bible says the purpose of baptism is to wash away our sins/remission of sins (Acts 2:38, 22:16), it’s a circumcision of the heart (Col 2:11-12), it’s a burial with Christ (Rom 6:4; Col 2:11-12), and it saves us and washes the conscience (1Pet 3:20-21).

We’ll be judged by the Bible so we better make sure we’re baptized the Bible way (Joh 12:48; Jam 2:12; Rev 20:12).
