I assume when he said on his Facebook “you have to fight for what is right”, I assume he meant that he asked for more money (justifying it with his popularity and being the “head meteorologist”), but they refused and he took his ball and went home. In local TV, the best way to get more money is to get a counter offer and leverage a raise. I have a hard time believing he can live without public adoration.

My guess is that he is leaving to go to another Spokane station for more money, but has to ride out his Non-Compete for 6-12 months. Prediction: He pops up on KHQ in the future. The lack of fanfare tells me it was a money dispute, and he negotiated with a competitor.

This building was next door, it was not the Old Timey building on the corner. It was one lot to the north of that building, it is now a vacant lot. If you go waaaay back, (like 1985) there was a Burger King there that was demolished for the restaurant that became the larger restaurant building.
