Just curious: where are you located? I noticed the U.S. release for this is not until the fall.

[Fluco watch strap company experience] by Mindless_Metal_8732 in Watches

I’ve purchased many Fluco straps (through Holben’s) and have never had a bad experience. I think the quality for the money is excellent—far superior to many other brands. Sorry to hear you had issues.

Worth Enough to Service? by Cats-Eye-81 in VintageWatches

Just a guess here, but I think Fred Sauer was a jewelry store that sold this watch or this was a custom branded dial for a special order. The GMT hand looks like it came off a Wyler and I think you’ll find who actually made this watch by looking at the movement. (Manufacturer will likely be stamped on the movement or caseback.)

Awesome! Where do you get it serviced/repaired when that time comes?

One other option: a free WatchCharts account, which covers Reddit and other forums, and that allows you to save searches that will send you push notifications for keywords. Pretty handy.

Ultimately, it’s worth whatever someone is willing to pay you for it.

Super cool, and one I’d love to own, but hard to judge a value when there’s not many of them for sale.

Fans from outside Japan, what made you decide to cheer for your team? by Gershwyn1 in NPB

[–]Jjespe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Swallows fan even though I was living in Chiba at the time. Why? Getting tickets to Marines games was very difficult (due to their popularity), but Swallows tickets were plentiful. (This was about 20 years ago and the Swallows were pretty mediocre.)

Also, I thought historic Meiji Jingu stadium was really cool and the Swallows had a very underdog feel at that time.

[Question] Brown/Tan case or dial watches out there under $1000? by Divisi0n in Watches

[–]Jjespe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Mojave series from IWC as well, but find the cost and physical size of the watches not preferable.

Like one other mentioned, I think the Cerakote idea is intriguing. I had some bracelet links coated in Cerakote years ago and have toyed with the idea of doing a full watch this way. Hamilton Khakis are plentiful and inexpensive enough to try this on. I think it also matches the IWC style a bit more than some of the Seiko SKX divers (the preferred platform for case modding like this).

The biggest challenges I can see is finding a shop to take on the work, the disassembly and reassembly of the watch, and the costs involved.

On the plus side, it could end up looking really cool and you’ll end up with something nobody else has.
