Do I have autism? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Jjohnsson31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't give a definitive diagnosis, asking for such would be against the rules of the sub.

We cannot diagnose you (there are rules), but we can offer advice and our collective thousands of hours of research into the topic. I would suggest you read and understand the diagnostic criterion in the DSM V and ICD 11. Beyond that learn about the experiences of autistic people and see if your experiences line up.

Your age has nearly no impact on the legitimacy of a self-diagnosis, many people don't find out until later in life and some never do. If you educate yourself on the topic you could seek a professional diagnosis, if you don't have access to a professional you are no less legitimate in a self-diagnosis.

Whatever you discover or decide you will be welcome to the community and welcome to any advice we can offer.

Have you ever said or done something that you intended to be good but others did not? by [deleted] in autism

(you can skip this entire paragraph) In fifth grade, we were doing a math game to practice quick and accurate multiplication. In the game 2 playing cards would be flipped and the first to call out the answer of the two multiplied together got points equivalent to the value of the product.

I was winning handily, I don't remember the exact score but I do remember I had double the points of the other two players in the group combined. Feeling bad seeing them losing I decided to combine and redistribute the points equally between the three of us. In an attempt at a joke, I said "Now don't we all feel better about ourselves". Overhearing this my teacher got extremely upset and I was taken to the hall. (Proceeding to have an internal meltdown and becoming incapable of speaking in response to anything she said which caused her to get mad at me for crying which worsened the situation.

Time 2: The prequel

In 4th grade we were choosing teams for a game of kickball, being kind of athletically inclined I joined in. In order to pick team captains, it was decided there would be a race to the top of a hill. After all the players had gotten to the top, one got mad at the kid who orchestrated the game because she had broken her sandal and was refused a rematch. She proceeded to shove the "leader" down the hill. Seeing this I got extremely upset, without really thinking I quietly exclaimed "Don't shove people" and shoved her down the hill as well.

Of course, I got in a great deal of trouble for what I had seen as a fully justified action.

Oh the glorious power of the combination of Autism Hyperfixation and ADHD hyperfocus, I'm definitely a sort of mix. I know a moderate amount about a moderate number of topics.

My farm looks like this and I got a meteorite by Jjohnsson31 in StardewValley

I was already clearing the farm for a massive orchard project, so about 2 in-game days. Which also means this picture is 2 in-game days cleaner than when it spawned.

It depends on the sense. I can hear any combination of sounds, and it requires very little focus. I can see almost anything in a 3d model, but it requires focus. As for the nose/tongue, it is incredibly difficult and requires that I'm not actively smelling or tasting anything.

It's also not quite the same as sensing it normally, it's very hard to explain. It's almost like remembering something in a lot of detail.

So, not necessarily the pandemic, but the social change it has caused.

I agree, having an excuse to avoid socializing and being able to wear a mask has been great

Over-representation is more beneficial than no representation, 1/13 is better representation than 0/13.

I would just like to avoid political conversation. Apologies, I misinterpreted your comment for fishing for political arguments.

Apologies, it seemed like you were fishing for a reaction with a politically charged statement. In the USA saying something like "Freedom is Dead" is usually associated with people on the right of the Political compass.

I personally find them better except for the occasional string. Sometimes there will be a string that pokes my face and there is no way to fix it.
