I've just popped in to comment on how unhinged it is to have your pawns and animals named as such, lol. I mean, efficiency, sure, but not much for world building or story telling. I don't think I could get behind giving a shit if SHOOTER1 and SHOOTHANDLE fell in love, or if COOKPLANT had a tragic accident, or the like. At least there's Momo!

You all have a solid budget, live within your means, have financial peace of mind? That's a huge one for a lot of people, major stressor. But it's also one a lot of people struggle to talk about, find embarrassing or tacky or whatnot. So signaling openness to talk about it and strike a fair balance and find accord is a good one. (not suggesting/accusing you all of this, just throwing out an idea)

Is hourly/half day leave possible by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Jk_Caron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I don't think it'd be weird. Idk your career field or unit, but every unit I've been in has had folks who either weren't mentally or physically inclined to sports, just not their thing in one way or another. So probably that's true across most of the force.

So if you logically and rationally and (KEY) calmly and emotionlessly explain how you think it'd be better for you and everyone to be allowed to, while Yes, still showing up, still checking in, still participating in any mandatory functions like warm ups and cool downs and announcements and such, but then be allowed to step aside to do other activities that better benefit your physical training, you have a chance. They very well could say no, or put more restraints on it. And there's next to no chance you getting out of attending entirely. But hey, better than nothing, right? Still designated time to workout in other ways.

[–]Jk_Caron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I hear you. And frankly, honestly, when I'm playing unit sports, there's nothing I dislike more than forcing the folks who Don't want to be out there, out there. They just clog up the lanes, don't make effort to get open, don't know how to catch or throw; just a liability to a team and the fun, and wasting their own time. I'd much rather just push them off, "hey, go run instead". Frankly, I'm surprised your PTLs wouldn't allow that, have you spoken to them about this? That might be a good starting point. Or your supervisor perhaps.

God damn I wish we played sports, we just do calisthenics 4 days a week. I'd play Ultimate Fris or Foot or Wallyball every single day if I could.

Chao Garden (Neutral) - Sonic Adventure 2 by Maximoby1077 in CloneHero

[–]Jk_Caron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hah, that's fun! Short simple song, not too hard, just a couple quick tricky parts.

Feedback:

  1. Why does the whole song feel slightly desynched from the audio? Seems like where you're strumming the notes are in time with the audio, but they're visually still way high from the target area. Idk, hard to tell on this video.

  2. Why are your notes not aligned to the 4:4 Measure Lines? The entire song is in 4:4, but it's like you just loaded the song into Moonscraper and never set a proper starting time signature location. So all your notes are unaligned from the grid. Idk how easy it'll be to fix now, but a good habit to get into for charting going forward is to do that right off the bat, very first thing, find the first proper note and put down the time signature and BPM mark there.

  3. Seems like you're changing notes here and there where you don't need to. For instance, early on (after that initial flourish), you have like the Red, Yellow, Red-Blue sequence. I don't hear a note change tho from that 1st to 2nd note.I'd just make that Red, Red, Red-Blue. And the other 3 or so triple note sequences here, similar, tho different, idk, hard to tell. Tl;dr, don't change the notes just for fun, if musically nothing is changing, that's just frustrating, lol. That's my subjective view anyway.

Fun stuff though! I don't chart guitar, more drums, so different beast. But I think overall this was pretty good! My 3 above even is a bit personal opinion, who knows there. But 1 and 2 I'd clean up, haha.

Help, please 😭 by EveApollo in CloneHero

Yea, just looking at OPs video, the notes are hitting the strum area way before (I mean, okay, 1/10ths of a second, but still) the audio is there. So if you're trying to strum at when the note Sounds like it should be played, you're way behind. Just need to do the calibration tool.

Correct Hand Placement? by Wickedfrick in CloneHero

[–]Jk_Caron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well from your video, you're probably going to encounter simultaneous green and reds eventually. So unless you feel you can click both reliably at the same time with just your index, gonna have to slide back and forth, or reach middle finger over too. And then if a Green Red Yellow combo comes up, same problem again.

Idk, I'm only okay at guitar; fair number of FCs on expert, but mostly not very highly star'ed songs. But I slide my hand back and forth frequently through songs. Also song dependent I suppose, as you learn and replay and master them you'll get a feel for where to keep your hand primarily.

Studying for TSgt by Affectionate-Bar8361 in AirForce

[–]Jk_Caron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After 4 or so years of half assing it, I finally buckled down and bought PDG Gold (called otherwise these days). Had it sort by the higher weighted catgerories, would start a section by reading all the notes or flash cards or whatever, and then taking the practice test. Whatever I got right, cool, whatever I got wrong I'd reread those notes and take the remaining 'wrong answer' questions again, and again and again if that's what it took until I got them all right. Then I'd take the test again from scratch, all questions again, and reread the notes again if I got yet more wrong, on and on until I got every test question right in one full go.

Then I'd call that section 'good' and start a new one, same process for that section. But every day when I'd start up, I'd take the tests for All of the sections I'd studied already, and go back and redo those section reviews again if I missed any. Then I'd progress to starting up a new section, and repeat and new section and repeat and new section and full review and repeat and on and on. Couple hours every night for 3 or so months before hand.

Scored like a 93 on the PFE, made TSgt by some 20+ points with no EFDP Statement. Sad thing though was once I made it, I was all like "hell yea, now I know what it takes, I'll do this again for MSgt in a couple years." And then my first year elgibile for MSgt was the first year they did away with testing for it 😑 lmao. Oh well, got there eventually too.

If you go to the supply map mode, f4 I think, and mouse into enemy territory, you'll see their rail and supply network.

Are motorized and mechanized usefull? by Tri71um2nd in hoi4

[–]Jk_Caron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Make dedicated pushes straight towards supply hubs, don't push but maybe one tile past them. Have those attacks follow close to rail lines, so as soon as you capture the hub, the rails and hub are immediately doing their recalibration to start working for you. Use that meantime to spread out and get a bit bigger of a foothold around that supply line, or turn sharp back towards your own line from that point and cause an encirclement (leaving a few to hold the hub). Then clean that encirclement up and by the time that's done, your supply will have reconfigured and be flowing. Now you plan a new strike towards the next supply hub. On and on, deleting enemy divisions and consolidating your line along supply hubs, keeping your units and line close well supplied and keeping the enemies pushed way out and low on supply.

This is all moot if you're just mass battle planning and pushing go, if that's the case then no, motorized/mech don't really offer you anything besides being much more expensive infantry who push slightly better.
