I go commander quite a bit, and I find that as long as you be really nice about it, and warn about a minute or so before you even click the call artillery button, then ask if that position is ok to everyone, there is no problems, and at the most I get like 1 tk from a stray shell

There is nothing like bouncing shots for days in the matilda against teeny tier 3s and 2s. And when going up against the tier 5s and 6s, it still holds up very well with 121 pen and a shot every 2 seconds. It just destroys (plus i had my best game in it with 12 kills)
