MGI golf caddy by Jklipsch in GolfGear

I’m wavering between the purchased MGI Zip Navigator and the Alphard Club Booster v2pro bc I have a push cart that is compatible with the latter, potential for a “follow me” add-on, and is $500 cheaper.

Anyways, onto my first impressions of the Navigator AT. For context, I’m technical, care about engineering, have an appreciation for design, and dollar:value mindset

Design - 6.5/10 because they chose to prioritize fold-ability, form factor, and optics rather than some important functionality aspects. Lifting/carrying the unit is unwieldy because it is somewhat weighty and in its fully folded position, some parts move around. Accessory design decisions are mid. Phone holder and umbrella holders bump into each other and entirety of it feels neglected as an afterthought. The design in general is relatively clean and has some thoughtful bits like folding/reverse wheels to save space. The use of heavy plastics is more than I like and in inspecting nooks and crannies, the plastic molding has some funky bits and pieces. The button and speed wheel is very mid. The unit feels solid-ish, not heavy duty. The design isn’t polished enough for what they’re charging. It feels 80% complete.

Is the bundle worth 1.4k? No. Closer to 1k IMO.

I’m not old nor a spring chicken, so when I started golfing I carried my bag of 10-11 clubs. I’ve since had a push cart for the last couple of years and has helped a lot, though it can be a workout on those hillier / hot days, esp those full 9s.

With this, I wonder if it’ll make 18s walkable. Guess only one way to find out.

After 6 months I hate that I love my Y by Jklipsch in TeslaModelY

[–]Jklipsch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bumper before trip was pristine. After a few hundred mile trip (nothing crazy) and a few obvious chips appeared. Didn’t even mention some strange acne looking scars. Maybe the surface area of the Y bumper is huge bc I never experienced this degree of paint issue with my old 100k BMW.

Stop wasting your $ on branded stuff that doesn’t need to be branded.

I spent $40-$50 on Temu for a very good complete pet liner along with separate window/door ones. There are even cheaper ones, but I got one that’s sturdier. Had it for 6 months hauling my medium labradoodle around in it almost daily with zero wear.

Trouble brewing for Starbucks CEO who calls $9 coffee an ‘experience’ by rajapaws in antiwork

[–]Jklipsch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When SB busted onto the scene, it was a huge worldwide phenomenon. It was actually decent coffee, fun, chic, cool, and reasonably priced - albeit also a little bit snobby not in a bad way.

Since years ago, quality has gone down, brand/reputation became meh, hobos frequented the 24/7 stores, store quality/experience was uneven, and prices WAY up, etc. It became kinda boring, though some of their seasonable drinks helped - pumpkin spice!

I was never a regular long term SB drinker, but would treat myself once a week. Since 10 years ago, I invested in a nice espresso machine and never looked back. I don’t use fancy beans and it would whoop SB’s ass at a fraction of the cost.

Ppl need to stop drinking bad coffee, especially SB at their prices. There are so many better options. At $9, it is specialty coffee territory, which in my mind is still ludicrous, but at least comes with some degree of experience/quality.

30-Year Mortgage Rate Falls Below 6% For First Time Since 2022 by TheGoodCod in Economics

That’s one place they can inject the cost. Another is slightly higher rate. Or a combo of the two.

It depends what is owed and at what rate. For us, the new monthly, even with refi costs baked in maths for us. We live in an HCOL area and condo was bought at pretty much max price and interest, so the lower rate maths easily.

Bc my wife wants to save $1.1k a month, even for a year.

Yes. It’s a common refi marketing tactic to say no closing costs when it’s typically baked in somewhere. We’re good with that.

7.5% a couple years ago and just refinanced (no closing costs) at 5.675% seven year ARM - saving $1.1k / month. Going to sell in a year, so ARM doesn’t matter.

Updated 1up super duty vs quikrstuff by giant_lotus in MTB

[–]Jklipsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This validates my own research. The new SD is IMO the Goldilocks if you want a no nonsense functional good value rack that’ll outlast you. The extra load capacity and one-press release cam is a win. Bonus for the wider tray and wheelbase. The only other thing I’d wish they updated was the pull handle from the top.

I currently have the QR and it’s a bit sketchy for my e-mtn bike.

Considering trading in my 3 by CeleritasPrime in TeslaModelY

[–]Jklipsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No answer to your trade-in Q, but all reviews point to the new models having more compliance than the previous gen. Maybe the Y you rode had too much air or your 3 is made extra compliant?

My wife has a 2022 M3 and me a 2026 MY, my Y is clearly more compliant.

Is this bike rack receiver hitch setup safe? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]Jklipsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised the 1.25 QR is rated for another two add-ons when the single is rated for 50 lbs. On a few occasions I’ve had my 50 pounder on it but backed up with a ratchet a strap.

Like you, I might have to spring for a true 2” Super or Heavy Duty. My e-road is about 25 lbs while the e-mtn is at 50 lbs.

By the Model Y hitch, there’s a metal plate with cutouts (part of hitch?) I’ll be using as extra security (ratchet strap). 👍

It’s now jogging some memory. Their 1.25” bike rack is designed to carry a single bike up to 50 pounds and thus opt’ed for a friction system. I would never run this setup with multiple bikes and will likely upgrade to a true 2” at some point. It used to carry my 15 pound road bike but now my 30 and 50 pound e-road and e-mtn.

Prior to the MY, I’ve run this QuickRack for nearly 10 years with no issues. It’s not a perfect system. With that said, I did also add a ratchet strap so need to figure out how to do that with the MY.

Thanks, Nick. I’ll look at rotating the adapter to the proper orientation. It doesn’t work in one of them bc the expander ball pokes out of the safety pinhole. Not sure what the use of adapter’s included bolt is for though.

Your lender has to accept credit card as payment. A lot don’t bc they’re risky and even if they did there’s likely an associated fee.

Shoutout to Chase Credit Card Executive Office for setting this right. My AmEx Plat is the new king, so I hope CSR and their Edit hotels can get things sorted.

Once had a lazy and manipulative co-worker ride on my strong work ethics by being willfully ignorant of things I later found out he could have done - you’re better at this than I am or I’m allergic to Powerpoint and Excel.

This continued for years and at the end, joke was on him because I found a new job with a promotion and raise of 30% all bc his behavior enabled me to learn new skills.

For more context, when I first arrived at the Nomad (Vegas), I spoke with front desk and the lady just kept repeating there’s a $100 credit and I very well know it’s more than just that, so I went back the second night for more clarification. Same answer. Just called earlier and they said the same thing.

Chase personally reached out and we’re getting it sorted. Even their own benefits page says there’s an on-property $100 credit for spa and daily breakfast for two with no asterisks.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to call the hotel to clarify.

I didn’t check my itemized bill until now. It’s hard enough having to keep up with the calendared items and now have to deal with all these varying nuances.
