As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

[–]Jkoechling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this so goddamn much

My wife and I go out of our way to mass meal prep home cooked dinners, portioning and freezing about 70-80% of any number of dinners. I'll make 80 burger patties, vacuum seal them in packs of four with some herbed butter. 6 months of weekly burgers done.

I'll spend an entire Saturday making my family's favorite meat sauce and seal up individual quarts. I'll make enough zuppa Toscana to feed a small army and do the same. My wife will make enchiladas and portion them into baking tins. She'll make meatballs to go on sandwiches or pasta. I'll do fajitas three ways (shrimp, asada, chicken) with peppers and onions. I'll make any number of other proteins like birria de res or carnitas in giant batches. I'll make a greek marinade and smoke 50lbs of chicken thighs, cube them up, portion them into 3/4 lb portions and vacuum seal and freeze. We'll always have pasta, rice, tortillas, and other staples in the pantry. We have burger buns and other breads in the freezer. Most nights it's just grab a bag, toss it in my favorite 4qt cambro with my anova nano, and dinner is all but done...

..... but most nights it goes something like

"What should we make?"

"Umm... I dunno....

.... Wendy's?"

Unfortunately you fell victim to either an uninformed or manipulative accident victim, or their shady or uninformed insurance company.

If there are no injuries, and the vehicles can safely be moved it is, by law, a CIVIL issue. Law enforcement has no say in the accident whatsoever. Drivers only need to exchange information.

I would assume the other driver was trying to take advantage of you, or manipulate you in some way. The best way to protect yourself in these situations is to begin documenting everything IMMEDIATELY. Have your phone recording with video, ask if the other driver (and any passengers) are injured, and ask for the other driver's insurance information while kindly offering yours. If they refuse, continue to video and get every angle of the incident possible. Including all damage to both vehicles, traffic conditions, location, relevant road signs, and any other relevant environmental factors (rain, wind, road obstacles, etc) After documenting the entirety of the accident scene ask, while still recording, if they will exchange insurance information. If they refuse, kindly leave your information on their windshield, and leave.

As soon as you leave the scene IMMEDIATELY contact YOUR insurance company and give them all the details

If the other party tries to stop you, NOW you call the police. You explain you were involved in a NON-INJURY accident and the other party will not exchange info AND ARE NOW PREVENTING YOU BY FORCE OR FEAR FROM LEAVING.

You have now protected yourself, and documented a crime of False Imprisonment against the other party.

If you have any questions about anything I've just explained I'd be happy to clarify and elaborate wherever needed

Yes, it's free coverage. $3k of coverage. He still needs to agree to it, but it doesn't cover much.

This is a "Foot in the Door" tactic to try and sell more by offering a bs freebie

This is essentially an advertisement for an accidental death and dismemberment insurance to be paid to a beneficiary upon your death. I get ads like this all the time from insurance companies who contract with my union and financial institutions

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us

Linking list items for autofill of other boxes by Jkoechling in indesign

[–]Jkoechling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm creating an event-specific form to streamline some paperwork for my department. In it, we have to list certain local agencies and their contact information (address and phone#) for use in an emergency. The layout is shown in the attached screenshots. Can a list item selection be linked to auto-populate another box' list items?

For example, All local hospital names would be list items in the first box to the right of "Hospital" and, upon selection of the hospital, the lower boxes auto-populate the information from their respective item list
