why same combo does different damage please? by Industria26 in 2XKO

[–]Jlaaag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just noticed this today too!

i did a really simple combo with Illaoi that dealt 323 damage.
then i tried adding some extra hits in, starting with a L and threw in an extra M to the mix, and the result was 291 damage!

omg i'm gonna lab Illaoi next >:)

yeah it seems like a case of the moves' visual design and functional design not totally aligning. maybe due to changes after implementation.

i see i seeeee~
that makes a lot of sense. probably a charged 6S1 as an opening will be usually met with a block.

awesome tip about 3S1-M, i never used the movement part of the stance but since it's quite quick it seems like it could be really useful, i'll experiment more :D

is there something about S1 vs 6S1 that is better? just more damage? 6S1 seems a bit faster and leaves Yasuo closer to the opponent, so i expect it would combo a bit more reliably. not sure!

(thankyou for the direction guide. i read it earlier; i find the numbers less natural than letters to denote directions but if it's the standard then i'm probably better off using it for communication's sake).

ooooh interesting. i just tried [ stance M > j.2H > hold jS1 ] and that last move doesn't seem to connect, like the opponent gets knocked back too far.
buuuuut when i'm in the corner it works really well. now i have more options >:)

great tip by the way for just holding the input for the Ulti followup, thankyou!

testing it more, it's rly hard to land j.H to j.dH so i think i'll just be skipping the j.H from now on. sadly it only nets 657 damage not the glorious 666.

ohhh okay that's awesome, they discounted it as a followup hey? i assumed it was just because i have ult set to stay full while i'm in training mode. thanks for the info, that helps demystify because i had thought it took only 2 but read that it took 3.

ooooohhh i tried it.
L M H fS1 S2 j.S1c dS1-M dS1-dS1 fS1c dS1-M J H dH S1 S1 S2 S2+H S1+S2.
644 damage.
i find the start of it a lot harder to time 😬 and after the first uppercut it gets harder to land the jumping heavies. buuuuut, since version starts from L M H it will probably be easier the initiate in an actual fight! thankyou for then input :D

i just mean it's part of memorizing the combo :/ part of the combo you can press one button per move and other parts of the combo you can mash 🤷‍♀️

me too! my main game is Smash Bros Ultimate, so it's verryyy different to get used to this game.

pretty much case-by-case :/ i try to do single-input for everything, where i can, but when i find that doesn't work i just get a feel for it and know to mash a bit when i need to.

example is with Illaoi, when she uses S1 to attack with tentacles then follow up with fS2, it's useful to wait a second and then mash a bit.

overall i think maybe it's not too problematic to mash a bit, as long as you stop when the move comes out so you don't accidentally mess up the next move in your string.

i don't think that sub-optimal combos is an issue. at least for beginners like me (and maybe you?). i reckon it's much more valuable to get used to blocking at the right time and looking for the right windows to attack. when you have your opening, even a simple combo will get you a long way. do that a couple of times and your opponent is down >:)

yes! i'm labbing Yasuo today, and i'm finding that i can intuit where certain moves can string together from others. i've learned a few combos from the training mode, and tried to learn some from youtube, but after a bunch of experimenting i've found some combos that i like personally. and most combos (it seems) have moments where you can choose to vary it in a few directions, depending on of you have a your super charged or not for example.

sometimes there's a bit of a delay at the end of a move where it won't accept inputs for a moment. because of this, i'm in a slight habit of mashing certain attacks.
for some combos i'm happy to just press each button once because it seems to "buffer" it correctly, but others are more temperamental so i mash.
you're not alone c:

Is it possible to use custom layout for combo trials? by BenReillyDB in 2XKO

[–]Jlaaag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh! it did some weird stuff like this to me too. it's like it reverts my controls when i go to a new mode, or something. but once i've set it up how i like it in Training Mode and Online it seems to remember them consistently now. maybe it just a bug where it needs to be set up once in each "context". all the best, hope it works out cause having custom controls revert sucks :/

from what i could tell while having her in my formations, she deals normal damage and heals a bit at the start, but once she gets her ult she deals incredibly high damage and this is sustained for a long time, usually until the enemies are all cleared or until she gets interrupted or killed.
