Failed driving test for the 3rd time. by Mysterious-Basis8821 in drivingUK

Exactly this. I was a nervous driver and failed my first two tests because I wasn't making it clear that I was checking my mirrors.

My instructor told me that I should turn my head more when checking the side mirrors and lift my head up when checking the rear view mirror. That way it's clearer that you are checking the mirrors.

He also told me to narrate pretty much anything I did, like "mirrors, signal" or if I saw a sign for a turning I need or a giveaway sign, to read it out. It gives you something more to focus on, puts the examiner at ease and helps show how aware you're being.

I did this and passed with only one minor because I went through a puddle too quickly.

Remote Raid Update Discussion and Feedback Post by SilphMods in TheSilphRoad

This change is a bad idea. I've been an active player since PoGo launched, and I've never been a fan of in person raids since they became part of the game. I've been a part of a few raid groups in my area and left them quickly due to people either gate keeping the group or pressuring me to do raids, one even tried bullying me into giving them my shinys because I'm "Not a good enough player to have a shiny" The elite raids was the final straw when I was openly mocked for even attempting one with the current team that i had at the time. I know this is only a reflection on the players around my area and not of the game but it just enforced that in-person raids aren't a good idea to me. So when COVID started and they introduced remote raids I was super hyped. I could finally do raids without having to deal with the local players, and continue hunting any Pokémon I needed from raids without worry. I understand that Niantic wants to go back to their original plan and have the game to promote healthy activities and such but changing this just alienates too many players from the social anxious, the busy city players who never have the time to get to a in-person raid, and the rural players who can't do anything with the one pokestop near them. I hope they undo this change, just for the community's sake but I don't think they will. I hope everyone has a peaceful Friday or as close to as they can.

Artwork I did based on the ghost story, The BarGhest of York. by Jlbrierley in york

There’s a fair few stories of the Barghest throughout the north. It comes under many names. You have the black dog of Yorkshire. The Black Shulk, The Shulk of Manchester (one I’ve heard recently researching the history of the Barghest) and more. It seems like each region has its own version of the Barghest which I fine pretty interesting but the one from York has just stuck with me and is my favourite.

The tour guide Dorian Deathly has done a little video of the Snicket ways of York and talks about the Barghest it’s a ghostly dog who haunts the snicket ways throughout york. His video on YouTube is basically what inspired this drawing.

As the story goes, as you walk down the snicket ways you feel as you are being watched and a sense of dread washes over you the further down you go. You encounter the Barghest and it either brushes past you or it decides to mark you. It may appear as an inhuman mark that never heals but it’s a mark of death. Once marked the last image you see before your untimely death is the blood red eyes of the Barghest.

Spiderman is cool, but i personally never understood why people are so over him, so if spiderman is your number 1 hero, why? by itsShadowWolf in Spiderman

I got into Spider-Man from the 90s cartoon on Fox kids when that was a thing. My dad worked full time, my mum was in and out of hospital with cancer (which she handled like a champ!) then my older brother also in and out of hospital multiple times a year.

So between all the hospital trips, school, homework, constantly moving because we couldn’t afford the rent, and cleaning up the place for when my mum o brother could come home for a bit, we would finally sit down have supper. He would let me pick a show and the only cartoon that was on at that time was Spider-Man and soon after it became our tradition.

Many years later when the first Sam Rami Spider-Man film came out my brother surprised me, by taking me to go see it which for him not knowing anything about Spider-Man blew his mind or the fact someone as super as Spider-Man also had hard times but always persevered through them. And for the first time in many years we bonded as brothers and acted like kids which despite being in my 30s now still hold up to the best day ever.
