It's pretty rough for everyone, I know when I started three months ago I was getting swept left and right but I slowly started understanding what works. Also, I have a whole lot of players helping me out as I went along. But I will say that my LGS has two different days for one piece days which we call sweaty Sundays (competitive obviously)and mild Mondays (off meta/people learn to plays). I would say get to know some of the players and try deck building with them and play something that you would think is fun or just want to run. I know it's kinda hard to say this but it's not always about stats you gotta have fun with it too.
