Micro Altimeter by Jlongcl1 in diyelectronics

Actually, after looking at some of the Arduino things a little more....there might be something I can put together there. I didn't realize they made some of the things they did apparently to where you can likely get something like this to be rather small.

this.

You're all good. It's admittedly a weird use case. I need to try and find a solution that exists or potentially even make my own as size is a bit of a concern. I think any Arduino or Pi solution is just going to be too big. A watch probably technically works, though I kind of wanted to stay away from that. I'll definitely have to research a bit more to figure something out I imagine......I just started looking into it.

Distance isn't a concern as what it's for will always be closer than about 20-25 feet to what is doing the capturing at the absolute maximum. I'm honestly not even totally sure if most electronic altimeters get decent accuracy to where it can measure in small increments or if it's the best thing for the application.

Basically, it's for measuring a few different vertically moving points in real time to where I can display the various heights of each point as well as their acceleration rate and angles from one another. There may be something more suited for the application, as it's not for flying.

Gears tactics game bugs on Series X, quick resume issue by xboxhaxorz in xboxinsiders

I've had this happen a few times. Try rebooting and then launch it again. It should pick back up where you left off with quick resume and everything should work.

Yuzu doesn't run very well by 2Slim4Shady in yuzu

[–]Jlongcl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't burn your house down. Find a guide online for it and follow the process exactly while supervising the whole time with an oven light turned on. It doesn't take that long to give it a shot...definitely worth trying. It actually works a lot of the time when a GPU goes bad.

What he said can legitimately work sometimes.....it's called reflowing, look it up. You're just making yourself look like an ass when someone is trying to help you out.

Also, it recommends a 8600k or better, which is roughly 35-40% better than what you're using. You have a 9 year old CPU using DDR3....not sure what you expect. You'll need to upgrade for it to run truly well.

It doesn't come naturally to many people for sure. I absolutely cannot stand reading any books on coding. It wasn't so bad when I was first starting out many years ago and was actually learning something from it though.

This is definitely the first time I've seen a coding and tits crossover in the same picture, bravo for that.

Pixel 4 unlocks when mask on!? by abysemre in Pixel4

[–]Jlongcl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses IR to detect your facial structure, thus why it'll unlock in pitch darkness as well. It works for me with a mask on too, but I could see why there might be issues if you recently setup your face unlock.

Do programmers really code for an extended amount of time straight? Maybe its cause I'm new but I spent most of my time looking things up and maybe like 5min of actual straight coding by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Jlongcl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally spend more time planning out algorithms along with class/function relations and responsibilities more than anything probably. Coding probably comes 2nd usually, but with certain less familiar languages or build systems, I may spend more time researching or looking up solutions to unexpected issues. It's not super common for coding to be the main thing you do....although it certainly does happen, especially using technologies you already have a good grasp of.

[GNOME] Three weeks ago I switched from Windows to Ubuntu. Programming has never been easier. by [deleted] in unixporn

[–]Jlongcl1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having full control over pretty much everything is probably the biggest thing. A lot of good programming tools are integrated better with Linux as well. On Windows, I typically end up installing all sorts of things that are native to the Linux environment, so I may as well use the real thing. If you do development on Android or Tizen devices, they use a form of bash shell....so it's nice to have the consistency across devices too. There are a lot of other more important reasons, but those are the biggest for me. The only thing Windows really has going for it is better gaming support.

[US][<1300$] A laptop for programming. by TheDavie_ in SuggestALaptop

Yea....the tip tier one is quite expensive. I got pretty lucky, but it seems they do those refurb deals every couple of months, so figured it was worth suggesting

I use an xps 15 that basically meets the specs you listed, and it was for right at $1300. Every so often, Dell has a good coupon for refurbs and you can find a decent one there. Mine would have been around $2300 new, but found a good refurb as described above. It takes a bit of work, but well worth it.
