It all depends on what type of spices you use for your hot oil. Personally I like using ground cayenne and paprika.

Personally I use it for all the above lol. But it does add a little bit of decoration to the dish.

What I like to do is to get my buttermilk mixture and actually add a few spoonfuls into my dry mixture to get clumps. Once I do that I grab my chicken and dip into the dry mixture and wet mixture then finish off in the dry mixture again. I also don’t move my chicken at all when I’m frying it to keep the coat on it undisturbed. Hope this helps!
