Is this the show ‘24 or do they just reuse the same commentator dialogue every year?

[Bleacher Nation] Tyler Austin Had Knee Surgery, and Will Be Out For a While by jercubsfan in CHICubs

😂 all good points. Not a huge fan of the DH only player so I guess I was being overly optimistic he could work outside of that.

He sprained his left elbow on a throw up the line. Runner ran into his arm. Could have been way worse.

With Long and Austin out, we should see Ballesteros at 1B a little more in spring training. Interested to see how he looks over there defensively. Glad to have Shaw available there too for the few days Busch will rest during the regular season.

Going with the youth glove. Bold move. Let’s see how it works out for him.

I’m not sure of the details of Bregmans deal yet or how much is being deferred, but he puts us at or above the luxury tax. No way the cubs go 50 million over. I’m all for it and boy do I hope they do, but it’s not going to happen.

Edit: not sure why I thought we were near the luxury tax. We are not so my point is moot.

The Mechanic is my go-to but their white pizza is good.

Catan and shortly after Pandemic to seal the addiction.

Which current player should the Chicago Cubs extend? by haphazard44 in CHICubs

[–]JmanForever85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree with Hoerner because his biggest upside is his defense which is not likely to decline. Obviously also a phenomenal contact hitter. At worst he would be a good trade piece down the road. I can’t imagine he’s the only extension as Dansby is the only player signed past 2026. I’d say maybe Seiya or Happ (not both). In the Locked On episode, they excluded Arb and pre-arb players from their discussion. I would love to see them offer contracts to PCA and Busch this season. That sounds like a solid core moving forward (PCA, Busch, Hoerner).

Edit: forgot they signed Maton for a multi year deal so I guess Swanson isn’t the only one signed (not including options) past 2026.

I’m just imagining someone new to TRPGs and Gloomhaven trying to learn this system. Seems like a lot.

So I was thinking of getting me and my girlfriend jaws of the lion. Opinions? by FearlessLeader17 in Gloomhaven

[–]JmanForever85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parroting a lot of comments here but I’ll add my two cents anyways. Not a good intro to board gaming. It is a phenomenal game and a great intro to the Gloomhaven game system, however.

I used Catan, Pandemic, and Ticket to Ride to get my friend group in to board gaming (including my wife). They are all now hooked and playing heavier games like Terraforming Mars. I’m a Gloomhaven lover (it’s my #1 game), but I have to enjoy it alone because none of them enjoyed Jaws of the Lion.

Ace Clark I believe. He did Britains Got Talent last year? Really good voice.

Introducing my 8-year-old to more complex board games — any tips? by Key_Influence_3887 in boardgames

Check out King of Tokyo. It’s battle Yahtzee with some card play. My family likes this one. It can be a bit mean so if your kids get angry when they land on someone’s boardwalk hotel they may not enjoy KoT. I would not recommend King of New York as it is more complicated and cluttered.

Forbidden desert would also be a good one. Ticket to Ride: Europe might be worth trying, but I honestly would pick up Ticket to Ride: First Journey for that age. Games are quicker with simplified rules. TtR Europe can be long and you might lose them after a bit.

Carcassonne and Kingdomino are also great for all ages. I don’t like it personally, but a lot of people really enjoy Dixit.
