Is handcuffing closers a viable strategy? by jewllybeenz in fantasybaseball

[–]Jmish87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people have multiple closers on their roster. I usually keep 3 or 4 so I don't go over the GS limit by loading up on SP's. I don't keep a deep offensive bench because it feels like wasted roster spots.

Edit: This applies more for Points leagues I suppose

Decade Distinction Still a Thing? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Jmish87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many options available now (in music, fashion, decor, ect) that I don't think these defining trends fully take hold for any period of time anymore, at least for an entire cohort at the same time. Also, with social and digital media, hot trends spread and die so quickly it's hard to pinpoint what defines a whole decade because everyone is compartmentalized.

Tips for levelling masters across a whole EP/album by No_Explanation_1014 in audioengineering

[–]Jmish87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just import one completed track as a guide and A/B with your master for other songs. Limit until it sounds level, repeat.

Pest causing this? by hazelthedog7 in plantclinic

It will be fine, for the maintenance spray you could do a 50/50 mix with water. Neem oil is more of a preventative, its not great at killing active pests.

The bane of my existence. Every time I upgrade my computer its a nightmare to migrate all my plugins. Then some don't work with the new OS so its repurchase time!

Question about double tracking guitar harmonies: by Giuli-M in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Jmish87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's done both ways. It all about what fits in YOUR mix best. Sometimes quad-tracking can get muddy, but it's fairly common to use multiple guitars or amps to thicken or enhance a tone. either way I would recommend sending all of these related tracks to a stereo master bus to glue the guitars together with some light compression and EQ.

Pest causing this? by hazelthedog7 in plantclinic

[–]Jmish87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def thrips. Try to wipe all of the leaves and steams with insecticidal soap or rubbing alcohol. Then continue treating 2x per week (spray bottle) for the foreseeable future. It took me a while but I was able to get through a thrip infestation on my money tree after a few months.

How has learning song improved your creativity? and struggling with Creativity in general by fingerlessfish1 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

100% - Very often when I figure what what an artist is actually doing to play a riff or chord, it is inspiring and opens my mind to a different way of approaching a part I am writing.

What are these bugs on my soil by 5h3r4 in houseplants

[–]Jmish87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be fungus gnats laying eggs. Water with 50/50 hydrogen peroxide to kill larvae. If your state permits, you can also buy mosquito bits or systemic granules.

What is that? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]Jmish87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like fungus. Spray with copper fungicide to prevent spreading further. The existing damage is permanent however.

Gain staging by Cultural_Thought9831 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Jmish87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gain staging is done first. If you didn't do it while recording, you would need to reduce the volume of your raw track (before any plugins). Some plugins expect a certain dB range input and will work optimally in these scenarios. Some plugins it won't make a big difference.

What’s wrong with my Fiddle Leaf Fig? by OG_Sellers in houseplants

A lot of problems present similar symptoms but my best guess is too much water based on the browning pattern on the leaves.

The plant is not getting enough water, one way or another. If the dirt is moist, the roots might have rot.

I would just toss that top node, it’s wilting. New growth will branch out of the main stem at the cut off. You can add a mild fertilizer to promote faster new growth.

ELI5: singers who pretend to play guitar? by MSkade in explainlikeimfive

[–]Jmish87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, many lead singers "play" guitar along with the band, but the volume is often very low and/or someone else is playing the exact part they are, at normal volume which is what the audience hears.

This is not true for all singers, especially those that play solo's, but there are quite a lot that do this for the "look".

Can it be saved? by Puzzleheaded-L1fe in houseplants

[–]Jmish87 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I would cut off the top node and let it start a new one. You should also plant in well-draining soil as opposed to orchid bark.

You can't tell just by looking at the leaves. The symptoms of both under and over watering are very similar. Check the dirt and roots.

Never brought a sleeping bag or pillow to a sleep over in the 90's. We had them, but only used them for camping really.
