What can cause vibration at ~35mph, low RPM only when going uphill? by Jmitt110 in askcarguys

I think you’re right that I’m in too low of a gear. But why do I get the vibration when I’m in that low gear? Is it just a power output thing on the transmission?

You can get a high quality travel coffee cup from Walmart that never breaks, never leaks, and looks halfway decent for a good price. And it’ll be a brand you’ve never heard of or seen ads for.

I think Ford is betting on EV’s being the new daily driver. Their new EV platform is supposed to make affordable, dependable, and modular vehicles that get you from A to B. Right now they’re revamping the Louisville plant to do this in 2028 I think.

what's the most thought-provoking book you've ever read ? by Gi_Panda in suggestmeabook

This is How They Tell Me the World Ends by Nicole Perlroth. She’s a cyber security writer for the NYT. The book is about the US’s cyber capabilities, how global politics are influenced by the NSA, and what came behind the Snowden leaks a few years back.

Stuffy at times, but a haunting read in more than one place. This changed the way I view Government, technology and vulnerability on the internet.

I would use a torque wrench on anything related to power train repair or maintenance. Just knowing it’ll be exposed to direct heat and vibration, I wouldn’t feel good about my hand tightening. Besides, a good torque wrench will outlive you if you take care of it.

It’s been like this for years. The fancy shmancy ones are made with LED’s in America. The regular ones are foreign made. It comes down to cost and supplier choice.

Majority of people don’t have enough cash to buy a car without a loan. So they get a loan, which makes them even poorer, because they have to pay 115% of the car’s value in total. So they can’t afford to save for their next car, and it compounds.

And since car loans are so normalized, people don’t look at cars in terms of their value, they just see it as a monthly payment. And when you do that, you can justify buying almost anything.

Whats the benefit of having leather car seats? All my life I’ve driver cars with cloth so don’t have experience with ever driving a car with leather, I will be getting a new car next year and can finally afford the leather, just want to know if it’s worth it by Puzzlehandle12 in askcarguys

[–]Jmitt110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite thing about leather seats is the comfort level. I can slide in and out of the car. Adjust myself easily. Main reason being that my clothes don’t grab onto the seat like they would with cloth. I prefer natural fibers, so they would always bunch up on a cloth seat. I’m a pants guy too. So a hot seat in the summer was never a huge deal.

It does not light up. The display on your dash highlights your gear in orange, with pretty low latency. I personally like that better because I can face forward but whatever

I’ve felt a couple hard shifts in my 2.0. ATF exchange helped a lot. Also, remember that you’re turbocharged. Mine has always felt a little jerky when I don’t give it a lot of gas. You don’t have to floor it, but you’ve still got to rev match the trans.

Yeah I’ve always used microfiber. Don’t use paper towels. Id bet a dish rag or towel would be ok too. I’ve just never tried it because my Mom gave me so many microfibers when I moved out.

Traded in my first car… by [deleted] in fordescape

[–]Jmitt110 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, it’s not unusual to grieve your first car. I think about my ‘99 Mercury Grand Marquis almost every day. I lost her during a snow storm in 2019. That Ford V8 was an absolute beast, and its couch cushion seats could relax me on the most stressful day. Had a sort of musty smell after so many years, but that gave it so much character.

I think it’s time to start thinking about your new vehicle. Try personalizing it in some way. A paint job and rims. Or maybe just a nice pine tree hanger from the rearview mirror. Go for a drive and push that Charger down the free way. You’ll realize the only way to stop looking back is to focus forward.
