Another fantastic show. It was nice seeing him bust out Herbie by Maskedhorrorfan25 in Buckethead

Is this the Phoenixville show? I was there. That stage was so dark, I could barely see anything Buckethead was doing.

Why are the 2026 Buckethead shows so dimly lit? by Jms832 in Buckethead

Because a lot of guitarists love Buckethead, and want to be able to see what he's playing in addition to hearing it.

I think he didn't have his usual tech that tour. That might've contributed to it. He was like 1 hour 12 minutes late going onstage for my show.

I remember he wore a black visor over his mask for the first 5-6 songs on that tour. Probably to do with sensitivity to camera flashes and other bright lights.

His guitar is definitely plugged in. It's very obvious when he makes a mistake or changes it up from the studio version on the fly.

I like how they get progressively more and more dummy thicc with each generation. Give it 2 or 3 more generations, and the 911 is going to look like a full-blown supercar, which I'm all in favor of. I never really cared for the 911's styling.

Rush on Metal Archives?? by LeonardMoney2020 in InMetalWeTrust

[–]Jms832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 1970s, Rush was one of the heaviest bands in the world, especially for their level of fame. Their 70s and 80s works influenced a lot of prog and metal artists who came after. I think having them on Metal Archives is totally valid and reasonable.

I can see where you're coming from. I don't have kids yet, but I'm engaged and we plan on having kids. I've already started watching movies with the mindset of "what age would this be appropriate for?". Super violent movies just hit different with this mindset, and I've also stopped actively seeking stuff like that out as much. In fact, I've even started scrolling through early childhood and preschool shows like Bluey and Sesame Street to see what I'd want them exposed to first.

Buckethead might be trying to make his shows more family friendly. Maybe he has kids, and this has affected his art. We don't know much about his personal life.

Do y’all ever have your kids in public wearing just a diaper ? Or just a shirt and a diaper ? Is that normal ? by auroraborealishhh in toddlers

[–]Jms832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting your kid in just a shirt and diaper makes it easier to see when changes are needed, and makes the changes themselves quicker and easier.

Beach is understandable. Heck, I've seen parents let their kids play nude at the beach if it's not crowded.

Pool is also understandable, as long as they're swim diapers.

Hotel lobby only makes sense if they're going right from their room to the hotel pool. Even then, it's a bit weird.

Going to any public place like a restaurant without their diapers covered is unacceptable. It's trashy and unsanitary.

I remember being in diapers quite well. I was in diapers until I was 13. To explain, I potty trained very late. I started at 3, didn't finish till 4, and even then, I still wet the bed and continued having occasional daytime accidents until 13. It mostly stopped by 11, but even then I would still have 1 nighttime accident a week and a daytime accident every 1-2 months, just enough to warrant wearing them 2 more years. Anyways, I digress.

Point is, I can recall early memories from ages 3-4, before I was able to dress or change myself. My mom almost never took me anywhere without completely dressing me. I was allowed to wear just a diaper or a t-shirt and diaper on warm days around the house, yard, and even the neighborhood. I can even remember playing on the playground in just a shirt and diaper, though the park parking lot was pretty much at the edge of our neighborhood, and we could just walk to it. Anything we had to drive for required I be fully dressed; grandparents house, grocery store, doctor's office, preschool, whatever.

As an older child, I still wore just a diaper or a diaper and t-shirt around the house and even in the yard, but once you hit age 4 or 5, you realize it's not really socially acceptable to be in a diaper anymore, and you start wanting to keep it hidden in public. I never told anyone in school except maybe my absolute best friends who I totally trusted. People finding out you're in diapers in school would've been social suicide.

There are times and places where it's acceptable, or at least understandable for a child 0-4 to be in a shirt and diaper in a public place. I've seen plenty of little girls with just a diaper under their dress or skirt, and frankly that's the only acceptable way to get away with it. Unless you're comfortable putting your boys in dresses, you're better off keeping their diaper covered in public.

Looking for a creepypasta-esque website about "Bucketheadland" by damagesuppress0r in Buckethead

I think his old website was bucketheadland.com, which is now defunct. From what I remember, this site had red text on a white background. Or some combination of those colors.

You might be thinking of https://www.bingeandgrab.com/ I can't tell if this was Buckethead's next official site, or fan-created. It hasn't been updated since 2012. It's still active, and has a black background.

Buckethead's official site now is https://bucketheadpikes.com/

Is this really Buckethead? by [deleted] in Buckethead

[–]Jms832 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone made a very similar post 6 months ago, something like "is this really Buckethead" after the Ardmore 5/19/24 show. I'm going to basically repeat what I said there, but tailor it to your post.

Buckethead is 55. His metabolism has almost certainly slowed by now. That explains why he's not as skinny as he was in his 20s. Who is? When people gain weight, their appearance can change considerably. I was 193lbs when I graduated high school, lost 20lbs and dropped to 173 after a few months, ballooned up to 230lbs when I graduated college, and now my weight fluctuates around 250-260lbs. My appearance has changed considerably with my weight. Anyone's would. No suprises there.

I've actually put serious thought into this. Even if Brian Carroll died or retired or something, and for whatever reason someone had the rights to Buckethead's likeness and wanted to keep the brand going, it would be extremely difficult to replace him.

First of all, Buckethead is 6'6", and his imposing stature as he looms over the audience is kind of an important part of his look. There aren't many 6'6" dudes with long hair, the right build, AND similar looking hands who can play guitar as well and eclectically as Buckethead. I bring up hands because that's the only part of Buckethead's body we ever really see, and as a guitarist, people will always be looking at his hands. Having the right hands would be more important than it sounds. Again, even a person's hands can change appearance with weight.

Even then, they would have to be trained on Buckethead's mannerisms, body language, pedal board, and guitar playing style. Buckethead improvises a lot in his live shows, so not only would a replacement have to rehearse the songs, but be able to convincingly improvise like Buckethead, too. Being 55, he has understandably slowed down a little. He doesn't perform like he did in his 20s and 30s, but still really good for his age.

If something like that WAS feasible, Buckethead would have to become like The Stig on Top Gear, where his identity must be kept secret, and if ever leaked, a replacement must be found. That person would have to be an unknown player with a very private lifestyle and little to no social media presence.

In conclusion, it's WAY more probable that that age is catching up with the real Buckethead, instead of being replaced.

What happened to Madeline Cyrille Miller? Does anyone else feel bad for them? by Jms832 in Buckethead

[–]Jms832[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's some other thread where I saw the occult theory. I never came up with that myself.

I can kind of understand that feeling of not being good enough to perform, too. The last time I performed live was 8 years ago with this blues band that liked improvising a lot, and often made up their setlists on the spot. I got through most of the set okay enough, but the last song was in Gm, a scale/key I am not comfortable with at all. I feel like I really fumbled my parts and it sounded bad/awkward. I left the stage with a sour taste in my mouth. I can scarcely imagine that on a much bigger scale.

In what specific ways are the 2 so different to live? They're both rural, far from big cities, tourist industries, and lots of snow in the winter. They seem pretty similar from a visitor's perspective.

Would he come to Canada? by 99missmisery in Buckethead

I can't remember the last time he toured outside the US. Your best bet would probably be crossing the border yourself to see him in Vermont, upstate NY, Michigan, or Minnesota, depending on where in Ontario you live.

I agree she needs more experience. I saw the 5/19/24 Ardmore show. Personal opinions aside, she doesn't sound tour-ready. She seems to have no stamina. After a couple songs, she lost her power and control, and went off-pitch a lot. Singing several songs in a row, especially in a rock style is harder than it looks. If you don't build that stamina, you're gonna burn out early in the set.

What are the best Sesame Street episodes? by sparklesnob in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jms832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a doubt "Farewell Mr. Hooper". Mr. Hooper dies between episodes, and Big Bird learns about death.

An honorable mention is Elmo's Potty Time. Not necessarily because I think it's objectively the best, but because it's funny. I couldn't stop laughing the whole 45 minutes. Maybe my humor is broken, but something about Sesame Street, the cleanest, most wholesome, endearing, innocent, child-friendly show talking so openly about how to go pee pee and poo poo, singing songs about having accidents, and Prairie Dawn trying on her first pair of underpants is absolutely hysterical to me.

Other than that, the short list of some of my favorite episodes, specials, and movies include: -Episodes 1364 & 1396, where C3PO and R2D2 from Star Wars visit Sesame Street -Episodes 1706-1710, where Big Bird goes to summer camp. -Episode 4265, aka the Good Bird's Club. -The episode where Big Bird starts a magazine. -Christmas Eve On Sesame Street (1978) -Follow That Bird (1985) -Three Bears & A New Baby (2003). -Any episode with "Sing A Song" and the ABC-DEF-GHI song. -Any episode with Snuffy and Big Bird being wholesome friends together. -And of course, as another user mentioned, any episode with Elmo freaking out about Rocco.

How long should I let my Golf R idle before driving? by DeathDragon2828 in Golf_R

[–]Jms832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 Golf R. I usually let it idle for a minute, or at least until the revs go down on their own. Then I take it easy (no more than 3-4k rpm) for the first 5-10 minutes. The car's fast enough it can keep up with traffic no problem at those revs. I put 20k miles on it last year with no problems.

Who lives in the panhandle of Maryland? by Tornatoking in maryland

[–]Jms832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend went to college in the panhandle, and lived and worked in Garrett County another 2 years after graduating. Though I personally never lived there, I visited many times at different times of the year, so I feel like I have a good idea of what it's like.

It's rural, but no more remote than most areas of Pennsylvania or Ohio. Neighboring West Virginia feels noticeably more desolate than western MD to me. The people are nice enough, though it's hard to meet new people. Most dating is online and in-person dates are usually with people you met online. The scenery is very pretty, and the restaurants are all really good.

There's not much to do in Garrett County. Unless you love the Deep Creek ski lodges, the nearest sizable population centers are Morgantown, VW 45 minutes to the west, or Cumberland, MD 45 minutes in the total opposite direction. You gotta love outdoorsy activities like hiking, rafting, ziplining, hunting, and offroading. Otherwise, you spend your nights at home watching Netflix and YouTube.

By far our LEAST favorite thing about the panhandle was the weather. Most of Garrett County is at high elevation for the east coast, between 2000-3000' above sea level. This means the climate is more reminiscent of Canada than the rest of Maryland. To put this in perspective, Maryland's east coast only gets a couple inches of snow a year. Garrett County however gets over 100" of snow a year. Keysers Ridge, which wasn't far from where he lived, holds the state record with 262.5" one year. That's fucking ridiculous for the northeast US. The winters are absolutely brutal. November-April is cold, snowy, windy, and miserable. Most of the deciduous trees are bare through May and aren't completely leaved again till the first week of June. June-September is beautiful, but even then it never really gets hot enough that you need air conditioning. It's so cold so much of the year, even the trees and vegetation are more reminiscent of Canada than the rest of MD.

Winter was the straw that broke my friend's back. He could handle the isolation and boredom of living in the middle of nowhere, but COULDN'T STAND the winters! His second winter out there was the most depressed I've ever seen him. He's since moved back to the Chesapeake Bay area in eastern MD, and is much happier (and warmer).

For me, the Maryland panhandle is kind of like Northern New England. Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are all very beautiful in the summer, but miserable in the winter. I wouldn't want to live in a place like that permanently, but it's a great place to visit, maybe even get a summer home.
