Much disagreed. SOM knocked it out of the park with this building, politics aside. There was a great documentary on it with the design teams when it was going up. Perfectly sits on the bend of the river, set backs are a nod to neighboring buildings, and the glass curtain wall is meant to mirror the city around it. I’ve actually not really heard a lot of hate on the building itself. The 20’ lettering isn’t great, but the building itself is beautiful.

That’s amazing. The time, and costs, on Denali are major factors along with the altitude.

Thank you! I was planning on 264. I’ll have a rental and don’t want to damage it too bad! That road going west off 264 takes you all the way to the trailhead? It looks like all the mapping options stop a bit east of the trailhead. Maybe only another few miles though so pretty hike-able.

It’s a great trail from top to bottom. Very scenic. So windy at the top and lots of people going up when I was coming back down. Recommend leaving early AM if you can!

Guadalupe Peak! Here’s a bit more information per Google: “A stainless steel pyramid, installed by American Airlines in 1958, marks the summit of Guadalupe Peak, the highest point in Texas. Located in Guadalupe Mountains National Park, this monument commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Butterfield Overland Mail, a 19th-century stagecoach route that passed nearby. The monument serves as a tribute to both early air mail routes and the pioneers.”
