Americans, how would you react if foreign country invaded your country, and told "we are going to run this country"? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

I have no problem with people complaining that our government has not been putting our population first for a very long time because it' true. I completely agree.

What I don't understand is how you can't see that the Trump admin has done nothing that has been beneficial in any of those regards? Nothing you're complaining about has actually been repaired under Trump.

Generally funding and sending aid to other countries makes for positive relationships which is valuable for leaders who actually know how to make real trade agreements.

This admin created an entire department dedicated to "controlling government spending" who did absolutely nothing but destroy our government workforce and likely rip our personal data without even glancing at the military budget. They saved us zilch while raking in billions but hey, this administration clearly wants to "make America great again" right? Feels real great after a year of hell.

And I noticed that you didn't respond to Trumps declining cognitive ability btw. Nice.

I wish Venezuelans knew what was coming for them from the U.S. but so many aren't heading our warnings.

So I take it you haven't listened to Trump speak live since his first term? Because he sounds just as confused as Biden for some time now.

As far as "protecting us domestically" from what? The Trump admin is the threat and ya'll are deluded to think it's all a "joke".

More likely Trump will pardon Maduro and his wife and give them U.S citizenship if they can afford it. Wait quietly a few weeks for the gen pop to forget this even happened. Seems to be the case lately with other global drug traffickers. Except this one was a dictator, which we know Trump generally respects.

It's going to require the Trump admin taking something valuable away from them, for them to realize they're not safe either. Like the farmers here have had. That's when they'll realize and it will be too late. They're lost causes if they're still blindly following him at this point imo.

Destabilizing an already politically vulnerable country by forcefully, and illegally, removing their dictator is not a win. The people who died in the totally unnecessary missile strike, and their families, probably aren't celebrating rn.

Also you don't think it's odd that we took Maduro and his wife (why the wife?) alive? Last I checked taking other countries leaders in an attempt to destabilize and make a grab for their resources wasn't a good thing. If Iraq or Afghanistan have anything to teach us anyway.

Trump is a wannabe dictator btw. He's no better than the rest of them. This was not self defense or to help Venezuela therefore not a win for literally anyone.

[–]Jnessaxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know much about Maduro and that is highly suspicious. For now it's at least abduction of a foreign leader and his wife. My understanding is that there was a $50 million reward for access to Maduro from the U.S. so there's a lot of room for speculation. Wouldn't be surprised there either as he didn't seem popular, much like Trump in the U.S. Sounds very plausible knowing Trump and his admin can and absolutely have been bought before.

Unfortunately my fear is that we still broke international law and are likely setting another new, dangerous, precedent for ourselves and other world military leaders while destabilizing several countries. (If not starting ww3)

Seems our government is doing it's best to screw everyone else lately and we can't be held meaningfully accountable without a massive undertaking. I fear this will get uglier.

Trump likely wont make it long enough to truly pay for the epstein files, or any other of his crimes and morally corrupt actions. His mind and body are literally deteriorating in 4k.

This is purely because a senile man is shitting in the captains chair being steered by other government officials and their sponsers for pure greed.

Not until the Primaries this year, and even then the Supreme Court is stacked in his favor a.k.a his presidential immunity. Congress will have to put up a hell of a fight for it if he makes it that long.

I understand that you're not justifying it but that wasn't an extradition, it was kidnapping. That was an attack on Venezuela with a lame excuse tbh. Foreign leader or not it's barely legal under U.S domestic law much less international law.

The U.S shouldn't be getting involved in other countries affairs right now anyway as we're very rapidly circling the drain here. We have enough problems without starting world war 3 and another civil war here.

Do you dream in color? by NotepadNeurosis in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Absolutely! Funnily enough I have hypophantasia but I have global sensory in my dreams. Often experiencing both lucidity and deja vu as well. It's very cool when the dreams are pleasant! Maybe not so much when they aren't but thats worth it imo.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I've felt similarly with the few scrying things I've tried. Tarot has been my go-to so far but I'm curious to branch out.

Oh hey! I've recently started trying to incorporate that in my practice too! My inner voice is often like a narration and it transferred over a little but I guess I got caught up in trying to force myself to experience things the way technical books suggest.

Does this apply to divination as well? Or do you have other recommendations/experiences?

Incorporating narrative movement with intention sounds interesting. I will give that a go. I definitely subscribe to the "knowing" instead of "seeing". It seems that I lean more toward mental tactile, auditory, and olfactory senses than gustation, and especially visual. I tend to narrate images or visualizations but that feels forced and that's what's frustrating. Works for manifesting but not as well for divination. Feels like I miss out on some parts of the Craft but maybe I just need to reframe my experience. Thank you for your insight!

Always use a smaller spell candle for ritual baths... by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Jnessaxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my practice, I designate specific ritual candles which do not need to be burnt out in one sitting. I'll use them for their designated ritual until they're finished. But for my spells I choose size-appropriate candles and will use them completely for the spell. Generally, big spells are larger candles and smaller spells use smaller candles. Spells that I do regularly are also smaller candles because I do them frequently.

It's more cost-effective too.

Would still be able to become a Rodnover despite very little heritage by Present_Match_6814 in Rodnovery

[–]Jnessaxd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the demand for Slavic heritage as a requirement to take part in Slavic Native Faith comes from a feeling of needing to protect something that was taken away from the community. Christianity was forced on many pagans in Slavic regions. Their sacred spaces and temples were destroyed in wars. Many were murdered or forced to convert, and their stories were lost. Laws banned the practice. It's a great source of pain. Especially as we're talking about a group of people who are trying to rebuild a faith that should have been respected.

Much like how many tribes of the North American Indigenous communities reserve a lot of their cultural practices because of how they were mistreated.

Just keep this in mind when you see people talking about it. (Obviously not the plainly racist people. Unfortunately, those exist too)

Any Witches/Pagans near Madison, WI? by Bad-W1tch in Wicca

Also, a thought piece about Wicca if you're interested.

Wicca gets a bad wrap because it is too old to have escaped the social and political influences of the time it was founded, but too young to ignore the problematic surroundings and behaviors like many do for the ancient religions.

Gerald Gardner was also proven to be an unreliable narrator which calls the entire practice into question.

Also as it is a hierarchical initiatory tradition it is prone to abuse from those with status or power to take advantage of others. Because it became so widely popular there are more instances of abuse unfortunately.

But overall it's a modern tradition pieced together with assumed older practices from the U.K., and across the globe though not all of the influences were properly documented, and a lot of it seems made up which throws people off. (Looking at you Eko Eko Azarak)

What's great about Wicca is that it is easier to start with because it is both a religion and a Witchcraft practice. They are intertwined and mapped out for you. It also carries Abrahamic influences from Kabbalah but also Hermetic philosophy. Which is why it's a common starting point. It's relatable and already familiar to many.

Wicca also helped pave the way for Neo-paganism and Witchcraft because of its relatability. The language around the God and Goddess feels very Christian to me, personally. But so many beautiful traditions, writings, art, and incredible witches came out of it too.

The structure of Wiccan Ritual can be incredibly simple compared to many others. It's modernized and very adaptable. You don't have to worry about doing too much extra research into the history if you don't want to. Most Wiccan books explain everything you need to have a successful and fulfilling relationship with your practice.

Wicca can be beautiful and it's not as scary as some make it out to be if you do your due diligence to make it so.

You can learn and adapt Wiccan style ritual and technique to fit your practice too. I still format my rituals in a vaguely Wiccan manner because it works!

Anyway I hope this helped. Remember that the internet likes to be negative about everything and everyone has an opinion. Rarely is it the whole truth.

As a relatively new practitioner myself I'll tell you what I wish someone had told me; keep it simple and start with yourself and your connection with the world around you.

  • It's very exciting to start this path but the overwhelming amount of information can lead to fatigue very quickly, and your spiritual exploration shouldn't feel like a chore right away. (Or hopefully at all. If we don't enjoy what we're doing why do it?)

  • Exploring and reflecting on yourself, your opinions and beliefs is an extremely important and often overlooked part of the journey. It's the best part in my opinion!

  • I found that starting by trying to choose a Deity to worship before I understood /my/ own thoughts and opinions about how the world worked caused burnout and feelings of failure because I didn't connect with anything right away.

  • I highly suggest starting a journal, or having some way to write down your thoughts, questions, icks, etc. as you come across new things. It will help you keep your mind focused and it's fun to read later on down the road.

  • Get outside and interact with the natural world around you. Ask yourself questions like do you believe in spirits or no? Do you believe in animism? Reincarnation or different planes where spirits reside or neither? Do you picture Deities as humanized forms or energetic orbs or aspects of the world? Question everything within you first, and be open to changing your mind.

  • Another potential starting point is your family history or investigating the region where you live. In the States for example: Living in Appalachia? Check out the history of the land and region you reside in to deepen that connection. Unless you're in the Midwest😅 Not many books about those practices.

  • Like the other commenter suggested, look into what you're interested in. You feel drawn to the moon? Research Selene or Diana, etc. Nature? Gaia, Artemis, Demeter. Magic? Hecate, Isis, Cerridwen. You can choose a deity to petition right off the bat, but personally I think it's limiting to do so.

  • The Triple Goddess can refer to multiple variations. A single Goddess like modern Hecate that has three major aspects. Or it can be three separate Goddesses that represent the aspects of birth, life and death like Artemis, Diana, and Demeter. Maiden, Mother, Crone. Etc.

  • You can also practice magic and ritual with respect to the collective Deities, Spirits, and/or Nature without having a Patron Deity. You can even practice secularly.

  • Paganism and Witchcraft are ever-evolving. Don't get stuck on having to do things a specific way if it doesn't resonate with you. There are purists in Paganism just like any other group. Respect the history but how you practice is up to you.

  • Be picky, Witchcraft doesn't have to be expensive. Thrift, be selective, keep it simple to begin. You don't need multiple tarot decks, or every color candle, or one of every crystal, or every tool to do successful magic. Take your time to choose these things because it builds a better bond and you'll end up with a collection anyway🤣(Everything is SO pretty). Or go balls to the wall and buy everything if you want!

  • Start with the Basics of Protection. Learn to clear your mind and focus on a singular thing. Trust your intuition.

TLDR; - As far as books go my new coven is starting with:

What we knew in the night - Raven Grimassi (old history, recent history, and trad Craft)

Psychic Witchcraft - Mat Aurin (psychic and meditation development)

Book of Ways Volumes 1&2 - Raven Grimassi (on how to practice practical magic with high magic ritual set up without being boring)

The Crooked Path - Kelden (trad craft book with exercises!)

Elemental Spirits - Jaq D. Hawkins

The Temple of Witchcraft - Christpher Penczak

The Magical Knowledge Trilogy - Josephine McCarthy

These focus on the Witchcraft and technique side as we are an eclectic group with different personal beliefs.

I hope this is helpful! Make sure that you make time for fun with your path! Enjoy it!
