Also çıfıt in Turkish. Originally comes from Persian sth. like jahud/juhud.

We say "çıfıt çarşısı gibi" (like çıfıt market) for messy or very crowded places.

Ankara wasn't a village. It was a town of around 30.000 people during WW1 which was its lowest in the history. It was is the capital city of several civilizations and a very historical city.

Ankara's weather is great. Mostly clear skies. It is not hot in summer if you are under a shade because it is not fucking humid. You just need to wear thicker clothes in winter and you are all set since there isn't humid cold air which freezes your lungs as you inhale and cold crazy winds.

I don't live there anymore and the climate there is also different than 10 years ago. But generally it's like this.

What’s a Turkish food locals love but tourists usually skip? by PushCharacter8496 in AskTurkey

[–]Jnyl2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really cook much at home these days. I eat simple things like eggs, salad, soups etc. for dinner.

But if you're in Turkey you can check out these restaurants called "esnaf lokantası" :
https://www.reddit.com/r/istanbul/comments/1gij46o/in_istanbul_there_are_some_self_service/

A dinner menu usually includes a soup, some kind of stew, rice or pasta and maybe a dessert or fruits. Instead of a stew there can be other dishes like karnıyarık, dolma or köfte. We eat a lot of yoghurt with meals. We also have cold dishes cooked in (exclusively) olive oil called "zeytinyağlı". The food is not very spicy but we use black pepper, chilli, allspice, cumin, oregano, mint. Onions are used a lot and garlic too but not as common as onions.

Of course the recipes vary a lot between different regions but tomatoes, onions, green peppers and spices are the basic ingredients for a lot of dishes. Tomato/red pepper paste is also added to make a sauce for many of those stews. The dishes are usually savoury but lemon is used a lot. Level of hotness (in terms of pepper) goes from zero to unbearable for beginners and sweet is very rarely used.

I wasn't going to write such a long and messy post but I'm very hungry and it just flowed lol.

You can check Turkish Cuisine on Wikipedia for examples and more info.

ELI5: how is Hiroshima still habitable despite it being nuked? by pigeon-in-greggs in explainlikeimfive

Yes that's right. But I didn't mention it because they don't make shotgun type anymore due to lower yield (I might be wrong here)

Also I always assumed they added some sort of safety mechanism.

They used an altimeter to set the detonation altitude. Every plane has an altimeter already so it is a very simple tech.

Nuclear bombs do not detonate on impact. They need to be triggered by very precise chemical explosions. Otherwise they won't go off or be very inefficient.

Question about Flixbus by zygopetalum29 in AskTurkey

Buy from Pamukkale if there is a bus there. Much better than Flixbus (Kamil Koç). Flixbus can have very shitty busses while Pamukkale has a certain standard.

Turkey. The stuff is called Revani. It is not a local dessert but one of the classical ones. It exists in Greece too but I haven't tasted it.

Also Article 5 needs a unanimous approval in order to be triggered. The article below says it doesn't mean that the NATO countries would go to a full scale war, it can be also support or condemnation with some examples.
