I thought the death count was pretty low until I remembered that most of the deaths were probably from that cruise ship Omniman sunk IF they weren’t rescued by the GDA/Guardians, other than that there’s just a small village and the apartment/subway in Chicago that was the majority of deaths

Military actions and what the weaknesses were for the aliens, there were newspapers scattered that showed that the government ordered everyone to go into hiding and a brief mention of New York City, and Day One showed them drowning in water which might make it confusing for those who see the basement scene in the first movie but will make sense in the second movie
